Any info on clk55 cabrio spare tire delete??
I'm heading out to Kleemann USA in the spring to have Cory install my SC, a set of MBH long tubes and a Quaife LSD. This all got me thinking of running a true quad exhaust on a CLK55 AMG cabriolet. I'm thinking of completely removing the spare tire tub to make room, but don't know what to do with the two frame braces which are connected to it. I can't believe that two braces connected to a plastic tub can be all that critical to the car's stability - and if they are, couldn't they just be replaced by frame bracing - which I plan on doing anyway. Hoping some of the "old school" modders have some info. Thanks!

Thanks DB - checked them all out, to include secondary links and no joy. It appears that every true quad exhaust has been done on a coupe - yet to see one done on a cab. I've got a local custom exhaust shop - I'll stop by and begin my research. Thanks again.

You could just remove part of the spare tire well to make room and then relocate the battery. I was able to make room, relocate the battery, and still fit the stock spare wheel in the well.
***noticed post facto that you have a w209, no idea if the spare tire/battery area is the same; apologies.

can't be done on cabrio without sacrificing body rigidity because of bracing. if you quad you will have to bring a pipe over behind the bumper to the passenger side with the cabrio.
Thanks - I've got that. What I'm looking for is info from anyone who's attempted a full spare delete on a cabrio. The SL55's have a similar brace, but with no spare tub they come all the way back to the frame.
DB - I saw this post before. Swapping tubs won't do me much good, still have to bolt the frame braces somewhere and the center tub doesn't have the attachment points. Works great on a coupe. Appreciate the assist.
CJAckson - Thanks. W209s don't have a battery in the trunk. And if you saw how the spare is hard up against the under frame on the right side, no room whatsoever. Trimming the tub may or may not be of any benefit.
I'm going to investigate the SL55 braces and see if they're a solution.
Thanks all - I'll keep it updated as I progress.
