A/C Recharge question
My mechanic says "don't do it"! Dealer service department says "never do it"! I've got to believe that todays products work great. So here is the question: Can I purchase R134a refrigerant that meets the specs for my 2002 CLK55 AMG without destroying the A/C system. Thanks!

Yes,
R-134 refrigerants are all about the same with the exception of oil and dye additives.
Our cars use pag 46 oil and dyes are a waste unless you have a UV light for leak checks. Do not add oil unless a major component was replaced or a massive leak was repaired.
I was advised to avoid buying freon made in china but for short terms and leak testing it might subside. I was told it cools fine but might contain corrosive or incompatible additives.
I picked up a case at wal-mart made in india for some repairs on the fords I have.
Cheers, Gator
