Under cover belly pan and splash shields W209 models
Good day members.
Anyone of you still have yours attached under the car? Mine never had them for only the previous owner knows why....or not as he may never have checked them.
Anyway I bought a steel under engine pan from a CLK63 and since its a W209 I am sure it will fit my car as mine is a W209 as well. The cover below the tranny I couldn't get so I settled for a W204 model one. This is not the same part number at all but I am sure with some fibre glass I can make it work. Its in great shape bar one mounting point that was barely holding but the guy stripping it off ripped it and left the other piece on the car. I removed it myself as I wanted the mounting hardware. (If you are wondering why didn't I just buy these from the agents or have some awful thoughts of your own, it is needless to say that I paid for both covers half the price of a new upper front under cover pan.)
If anyone has pics of these on their W209 models pls chime in. Also apart from those 8mm styled bolts with washers, do I need any other mounting hardware? I did take those clamp looking nuts as well. Hope I don't need anything else as I would not want this thing coming off at high speeds and hitting the under carriage.

I looked all over the net and one post somewhere the op stripped their car to fit a compressor and showed some photos of the parts. Other places have it like Pelican parts but those are the plastic or fibre mat items. I am thinking of making a fibre glass one using the steel one as a template. Makes one think with this weight on the car and it still moves quick enough.
I have read people removing it mainly due to time consuming exercise of removing it when doing oil changes and filter on the tranny and engine but I strongly believe that if the engineers made it that way, then indeed it serves a purpose and shouldn't be left out.

I have a CLK63 and my panels are not steel, they are the fiber/plastic ones. Itsa 2 minute job to remove the bolts/panels to access the underside, not sure why anyone would be lazy and leave them off. They are there to smooth the air flow under the car...
I don't have pix handy but yes, they are only the standard MB 8mm bolts to mount up the 2 pans. Not sure if the mount points are the same for all the engines types tho on this chassis.

I found one picture of the rear / trany pan just before I started RMS job. I had to repair those side "wings". One was totalu broken and other one was started to crack.

Thanks Jim. Appreciate the response. I have read up people mentioning on other forums that they remove them because of it being in the way. Like you mentioned, removing them would definitely affect the aerodynamics of the vehicle no doubt. Hopefully someone can add photos here for me to look at. As mentioned above, I did obtain my steel one from a CLK63. I checked a friend of mines W203 C270 and found he too has a metal pan below his engine.

Thanks MouTine. Looks like the W204 one I have is nothing like that. I will check where mine can mount and where it doesn't and modify it here and there. As for the primary cat sections, I don't think I should encounter much of a problem there as I have no cats on my car sadly but rather straight pipes throughout.

No you can order them from agents but I dono price on the rear one. I was quoted roughly $100 for the main lower one but I got a steel one off a 63 W209 for less than half the price at a salvage yard. If I were you, get some resin, hardner and fibreglass strand mat and maybe black pigment to dye the resin you use and just repair the "ear" sections that broke off on yours.

Steel belly pan
This is the under cover engine pan I got. No part number as it had a sticker of it instead of engraved and its ruined with oil and grime and sand and after me cleaning it nothing remained.
