Rear Diff. Ratio
Anybody out there ever play around with the rear diff. ratio in their W208 CLK55?? I believe "stock" is 2.82 and I'll bet the 3.08 - 3.15 range would really wake things up without creating uncontrollable wheelspin. Also, 3.08-3.15 would keep highway RPMs in the 2700-2800 range at 80mph for fairly comfortable cruising. The only source I have located is RennTech, but $6K is awfully steep. I just swapped a 3.91 posi into my BMW 850 for around $1200. Any thoughts or input much appreciated.

I had the MKB 3.07 diff installed in my car. It was a killer upgrade, however, after I had the Kleemann SC installed, the diff. was a bit too aggressive. As part of my current 6.3 liter conversion we might go back to a stock diff., which will make my 3.07 diff available.

My friend had the 3.07's from MKB in his car. It FELT faster, but in fact did not make a difference from 0-100mph.
I was shocked at this, but Renntech ran tests and yielded a better 0-60mph, but the same 1/4mile.
It does make the car more responsive and fun to drive though.
Like Sleestack, my car had too much power for the rear and I could have swapped it for nothing.
If you want your car to feel like it has more power, then get it. If you plan on supercharging, think twice about it.
It may have adverse effects on you shifting as well.
