2004 CLK 55 Cabriolet Black/Charcoal/Black
Talking It is in!!!!!!

Well the dealer just dropped off my new AMG 55 Cab. Beautiful even in cold, damp weather. I am going to take it out for a little spin now but I am still seeking advice on what to do first. I will have the chrome rims put on in a week. I am sticking to the AMG rims made just for the CLK55 to keep confusion to a minimum. I may mod in teh future but want to get a feel for it first.....

I am open to any and all suggestions and will post pics after I take them tomorrow.

Congrats on the car!!! you will most definately enjoy the drop top power, but I would suggest going to a larger wheel, even if only to an 18".

Photos delayed

Photos delayed due to rain and water spots. Should I wipe off water when it rains or just not worry about it? I am trying not to get carried away but I really would like to keep it looking its best for now.

Once again all replies are appreciated.

Very nice

Don't wipe off water spots unless you've hosed it off first, black scratches easily. If you wash it yourself try some eagle one wax as u dry after washing, it leaves a super smooth just waxed feel to the paint with a great shine and you do it while the paint is still wet eliminating the extra steps of detail sprays. The more you use this stuff the more protection it gives between regular waxings. I had some nasty bird bombs hit my car and normally it would leave a nasty acid ring but this stuff kept any damage from occuring as I use it every time I wash the car. One more thing, I also use it on my rims and it helps keep brake dust from sticking and it hoses off much easier too.

I don't know if the 55's have the pull to the right issue but if it does get your alignment done quick to aviod tire wear on the edges of the tires. My 500 has only 4500 miles and the outer edges are worn and my car has only a slight pull to the right

Best of luck

On either door, find your paint code, post it here.

I think it should be C040 or something like that.. might be just plain ol' 040 like mine. If you have the C then that means you have ceramic paint and it's harder to scratch so you can breathe easier

Go order some Zaino after you master the mbworld.org detailing section That stuff is the BOMB!

Paint Code K040

I have the paint code K040 on the 2004 CLK55 Cab. It is the same as the C040 paint code so I am told. I have no idea why there is a K instead of the C. Can anyone enlighten???

Also, I am still waiting for the chrome mono IV rims before posting more pics. I might swing another little surprise before I post more pics too. Stay tuned.......

too many to list
Those germans never were very good spellers! :p
Break the car in gently and then have your fun. I too suggest larger wheels even if only 18" and stick with AMG. The wheels that come on the CL55 are nice. But I think those are a little bigger and you might have fun fitment issues. Or the E55 wheels are also nice and bigger than the CLK55 wheels I believe. Tirerack also sells some AMG knockoffs by ASA wheels and its hard to tell the difference to the untrained eye. Talk to luke@tirerack

registration i think some states just get new plates, where as in some you get a dealer paperplate and a registration on your windshield

Cool Rims finally in and on....

But the new problem is the tires keep going flat. I just replaced one, got home and one of the others was flat. I will work with the dealer to resolve this problem soon. Other than that I have not had any major problems. I plan on posting pics with the chrome Monoblock IV's soon.

Personally I think the chrome is much better than the polished but that is just my opinion.
