False Crankshaft Position Sensor code? Replaced CPS, still intermittent starting
Hi All,
Looking for any input or experience you may have with intermittent starting or long cranking - any help I can get is help appreciated.
When I got my car I ran the codes and saw that it was throwing P0335 and P0341 codes. After getting on a diagnostics platform I was able to find that there wasn’t much else wrong - I was able to see that I had replaced the CPS and the car had stored the code but the car is still giving me a hard time if it’s warm. The car does seem to start faster than it did before.
Also worth nothing, is that while cranking you can hear some sort of ignition through the faint “popping” through the exhaust- it didn’t do that before - like it’s on the verge of starting but the computer is saying no.

Thanks for the reply, for sure - I was thinking I may try a whole new CPS.

Figure I should throw in that the car was bought with a disconnected Camshaft Sensor, which may have been why a code was showing for the non-crankshaft code. With that said, no I have not changed the cam sensor - the code wasn’t showing when I hooked the car up to a STAR the other day either.

Assuming that the CPS isn’t the problem, and the Bosch CPS I put in was good, has anyone else experienced persisting long cranks/no starts after changing the sensor, and having the code go away?
I have read it could be something to do with the fuel system in the cabriolets specifically -there was a heavy fuel smell in the car after filling that I didn’t think anything about which was mentioned here:

Thanks to everyone that helped out - turns out the answer was right under my nose the whole time.
