Cool. If I would have a CLK55 AMG I'd buy this quad exhaust...

Look really great on the car.

Quote: The new AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission does not shift down in the manual transmission mode “M” under full throttle and kick-down. Once a certain engine speed ceiling is reached, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT does not automatically shift up to the next gear.

Now that is something I would like on my C32!

The suspension/steering changes are pretty cool-should make this car more of an M3 beater than before. Wonder how much quicker it will be with the 7speed. I imagine that traction will be the limiting factor again.

all the quad exhaust pics on the CLK are on CLKs with the euro trunks, i have yet to see one on the US trunk...

i know i know, i am in denial, i am just mad i didn't get it with my CLK and now when i did get aftermarket quads, they are putting it stock on the CLK55s..

The 55 will not have the 7-G transmission for 2005.

Will having dual exhaust make the car any faster? Just wondering.

2005 CL55
Being a new owner of a 2004 clk55 I was upset (to say the least) when I read this post this morning. I called MB customer service and spent 25 min's on the phone asking about the upgrades. they told me for 2005 there would not be a quad exhaust, nor any of the other changes mentioned in the article. unless they are full of it, I would think the article pertains to the European market only??? I would suggest others call MB customer service as well and post what MB tells them?

Thanks

Mark

This is so typical of MB and probably every other dealer. When I ordered my C32, I have heard about the C55 and saw photos of it on the net. After I finalised my order I asked the sales guy when they expect the C55. He said he has never heard of a C55. I told him it's allright I won't cancel my order 'cause I don't want to wait a year. He then admitted to hearing rumours about it. The next day I showed him pic's of the car I got from a website. He didn't say a word....

Most probably just cosmetic. If it has a power increase I don't think it'll turn it into a SL55 though

03 CLK55
Thumbs down I'm with Mark and AMGBRED on this one...

Lord knows I've moaned about this before, but I really wish MB would have a little more continuity in their line-up. It certainly will suck if the 05 CLK55 has some of the changes that it's rumored to have. If that's true, then we're talking about only two years between model changes...

I do want to make a point about the quad exhaust however. As far as I'm concerned, they can keep it. It's doubtful that there will be any power gains, yet it's certain that there will be weight gains. Also, it will be a weight gain where you really don't want one, which is far away from the center of mass. The quad exhaust definitely looks nice, but I'd rather have the single sided exhaust, and just a different muffler (For style, less weight, and more sound)...

Best regards,
Matt

Quad looks extremely Sexy!

Will they ever put the Supercharger in the CLK though like the E55? If ther is no room cant they make the front longer or something?

I hate all this rumor crap. I called MBUSA and they have no idea whats going on. Even my sales rep doesn't know. Why do these people "not know"? Isn't this 2005 car coming out in a few months??

I'm just p!ssed that I don't have dual exhaust.

So why don't they shoot an e-mail over to MBUSA or my dealership. Point is why doesn't anyone else know. Now I have to just take your word on it. Sorry, but I don't know you than well.

How about if I post the e-mail that I received!

Dear Mark,

Of course I remember you for the Business Forum and lunch - good to hear
from you.

Your customer will be glad to know that the MY2005 CLK55 AMG (C209) will
have the "quad" AMG sport exhaust (like the E55 AMG) standard.
This car will also be equipped with twin-spoke design AMG 18 inch wheels
with staggered width and tire sizes (245/35 ZR18 rear).
The A209 (Cabriolet) retains the twin exhaust.

The coupe will launch in mid-summer.

Best Regards,

Rob

Is this enough proof that you do not have to take my word for it on this????

2003 CL55 AMG
Guys, MarcusBenz (Mark) knows what he is talking about. Mark is a great source of info.

I have also confirmed these changes with my sources in AMG Europe.

The reason all this info is becomming avaialbe at this time is due to the fact that DCAG is getting their 2005 Presentation Guides ready and it contains all the info that seems to get slowly leaked before even public release to MBUSA, etc.

I'm sure he's a great guy...but I don't want to get my hopes up for dual exhaust unless the dealerships are absolutely sure. Until its publicly release then its all rumors...no matter who tells them. I don't care if Jurgen himself is saying it...it still might not be true. Call me doubting Thomas.

Again...there are a few factors at work here:
I'm pissed that they might do this in the middle of a model run
And second, I'm pissed that my dealership has no idea what I'm talking about.

Its true the 2005 clk55 will have quad exhasust. I just got off the phone with MB customer service. I can't say i'm really happy considering I bought my 2004 3 weeks ago and was told by the salesman there would be no changes, but they are not informed either. damm! at leaset he gave me $2500 off the sticker.

Changes mb told me about today for 2005:
1- quad exhaust
2- New Dash and audio controls
3- new color-diamond silver
4- NO 18 inch wheels-17 inch is listed for 2005
5- Single cd- in dash - not new though- maybe he ment dvd?
6- harmon kardon
7- vented seats - option
