M113 vs M156 NA
m156 is “obviously” better engine but apparently it weighs 70lbs more. If I can get to 500hp on m113 that might be better option?
apprecite any feedback and info. Goal is to be around 500hp na.
... or another option, sell car and get another track toy? If anyone is interested let me know. Will be hard pulling trigger though, car is probably too special for me to sell.

I was curious about this for some time and read about a piggyback system that might keep reliability and max desirable power in user hands.
Putting a M156 will be a challenge along with any required electronics. Fun Fun Fun.

Either motor is a win for power and torque tho the liter M113 might be the better choice to build if you track and care about weight.
quik55, sorry i dont have any parts for sale. if i change my mind and sell/part out car i will create a thread for it.

I looked at larger Tb but we need to open up the inlet of intake manifold but that might not be possible. I think fully custom intake manifold is needed.

If you build a better air intake system the Tuner whoever will fight this along with your expense,
Since you are track only consider modifying the chassis for some long tube headers like the E-W210/211 guys have available.
The W208 is light strong and low. The blue Wrench and some creativity might save or wreak.

The CLK55 was shipped detuned with CLK 430 exhaust manifolds. The Kleeman shorties if you can find them are moderate performers.
Again I say working within the limitations of the engine age excluded.
Road tracking with high end Stuttgart friends will need some healthy mods with a car this age.

Folks 2.25' is nothing but much better than stock. 351C race engines were good all day with 2 1/8" primaries and 7800 rpm cruise 10000 rpm when needed. gtr

There are some Long tube header out there but not available public. They are chassis proven. Having a Exhaust gearhead friend helps.
Cheers
You will shave much weight by converting to RnP which is important in Drag racing. The nex mod should be camber bushings for rear then shocks.

i have kleemann headers swain coated along with custom 2.5in dual exhaust with pipe and race cats. Car pulls extremely hard all the way to redline. Actually have been taking it to 6500 with no issues. I agree there is a lot to gain with long tube headers but that has to wait, I don’t think right now exhaust is my issue.
i have an idea on intake side that could work and allow us to run 82mm Tb. I think anything more than 400hp the 74mm stock ones become restrictive. Need at least 78 and low 80s will be more appropriate. I might do it soon or wait till end of 2019 when I get complete engine rebuild. My goal is mid 400 whp na.
focus right now is custom wide body (similar to renntech clk60 gt ) and clubsport / racing suspension (swift linear springs + Penske racing shocks). Talking to shops about getting this done before track season, keeping fingers crossed.
on steering box, I tried to look for better option r&p, racing style box, etc but nothing available. Even custom is hard to get anyone knowledge to pick up project. I generally don’t mind feel of box, I got used to it, but weight saving and extra space for long tube headers is very intriguing.
merry Christmas/happy holidays/happy new year everyone
