W209 CLK55 wheels - AMG III vs. IV / 17" vs. 18"
My understanding is that the W209 CLK55 was offered with:
A few questions:
I'm curious!
- 17" AMG IV (the five double spoke)
- 18" AMG IV
- 18" AMG III (the five single spoke)
A few questions:
- Is the above correct? If not what is missing?
- What was standard and what was optional? Was there an upgrade option or did it change across years?
- What are the differences between the 18" wheels - is one type lighter than the other?

I suspect the answer may be more complex than that. It certainly is in the UK, where the W209 doesn’t appear to have ever been sold with a 17” wheel. My 2003 car (with upgraded brakes fitted more recently) came on 18” IVs.

my clk came with 18" IVs. All those factory wheels from that era are trash. I broke 4 wheels in 5 years and picked up some rotary forged rims instead.

that's pretty luck in my book. I drive like pot holes are lava and i still managed to crack those things. I will say I have had a few 190e's and a clk430 that i never had a problem with.
