![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Need opinions on the new rims for my car:
I have a W208 CLK 55 in Silver ;
I am wondering what fit and finish I should go with if I decide to get HRE's
I am also trying to go unique as I don't want a car everyone else has so I have been told HRE's are like that ??
I am also considering the Maya DTR, GFG Trento 5 in 19's
If I go down to 18's I am considering Giovanna Capri's.
Thanks for any and all inputs; I am ok with waiting for HRE's and the rest as well. I'd rather make an informed purchase than an unresearched one and then have to deal with the results.

thanks for the replies,
As to the finish any opinions there? I have heard everything from black, to full polish, to brushed, to chrome; 540 is a sick wheel just looked at it again!!
As for the maya as well ; chrome silver or black?
Thanks again

As to finish on a silver w208 body, if you get multipiece rims, I would go with a brushed or maybe silver painted center with a bright polished lip. This gives your car a little bit of flash without overdoing it. But, I tend to go for the elegantly understated look. If you get a one piece rim, then I would just leave the whole thing in silver paint. You are looking for opinions, so I gave you mine. I am not saying other people's opinions are wrong. I am just adding to the food for thought bin.

No i have not you got a link to them I will check them out if possible and thanks for your input
Brushed seems to be popular; I haven't gotten any votes for chrome yet which is surprising since they try and steer you that way when you inquire about wheels'
I am more than likely going to get at least 2 piece if not 3 piece wheels.
Thanks again for the posts

Here's my modded CLK55
I've enclosed a pic of my modded Silver W208 CLK55. Since you have a silver CLK55, the pic will give you a good idea of what your car may look like modded. Mods include Carlsson RS body kit, 19" HRE polished 540s, Brembos, Lorinser roof and deck wings, H&R springs, Konis & Expression light weight hood (not in this pic). If you would like more pics let me know and I'll post.
I also wanted a fairly unique CLK55. The Carlsson RS is not a replica and it a lot of patience to locate and purchase it. The HREs look much better in person, the pictures cannot capture the beauty of the polished 540s.
I'm actually returning my car to stock and will be selling the car and parts in the near future. If you are interested in the accessories please email me at hoku80@yahoo.com. A very good place to get your work done is A-One in Huntington Beach, CA (714) 848-3001 see Wayne. Since I spend most of my time in Hawaii, I rarely mod cars like before. I'm only in California for a week out of the month. Let me know if you want tips, I can sill do that from Maui.

Note that it is difficult to get a significant lip on the front wheels. The main reason is that the stock configuration of the hub & hub cap requires a fairly thick back pad to accomodate the depth. Clearance is required to clear the cap of the hub to backpad of the wheel. A custom cap could help reduce the depth required or a bowl style center would help increase the front lip.

Wow!
Very nice set up all the wat around ; would love to see hear more about suspension brake and tires issues as I am getting a bit more info than I anticipated. Love the HRE's, the whole car actually ; why are you taking it back to stock are you selling it ?? or trading up or something?? just curious.
Thanks again for the pics and the advice

It's time to let this project go. I spend most of my time on Maui and only 3-7 days a month in Southern California. The CLK55 is in Huntington Beach is an '01 and only has 8.5kmiles. I used it as a project / show car. I am going to part out the car and sell it basically stock.
I am thinking about a new project. Maybe a MB SL55 or a BMW E64.
If you take a close look at the front HRE and Brembo setup, the clearance is close. It's a fine line between a great looking car that looks setup tight vs one with problems. For the suspension, I choose to go with number 2 pads with the H&R springs and Konis set on med.
I still really love the car but it's time to move on to the next project. It's hard not to do another project with my circle of friends in the aftermarket business. I've been modding cars for sometime and still really enjoy it.
If you like my old setup, I could set you up with a shop to transform your car just as you see it in the pics. The Expression hood is nice too, I don't have a pic with the hood on the car.
