Hello again - and what a noob I am! This is for a 2007 CLK 63 Convertible.
I need to identify the part number for the bracket shown in the picture below, but for the driver's side. What you are looking at, is a bracket that is secured on the lower side of the bumper cover via a rivet, and is there to hold the lower front side of the forward inner fender liner. It secures the fender liner with three plastic screw anchors. The picture is showing what my car already has as reference, i.e. the passenger side. I need the mirror bracket for the driver's side.
For what it's worth, I looked at whether it comes attached to a new bumper cover and it's not.
Thank you PJmak - I have spent several hours going through this site as it's as close to what the dealers have as well. The challenge is twofold: I cannot see the back side of the bumped cover diagram and as such cannot tell if the part is indeed attached to the bumper cover (and therefore comes with it) or not. Further in my research, I looked at aftermarket bumper covers that do show the back side, and they are not including the part. The other challenge is that the part itself is not showing in any diagrams, but I am happy to be proven wrong.
@PJMak, sadly no. Part "11" is very similar for regular CLKs and the AMG versions. The difference is that the regular CLKs tuck in the lower part of the bumper more and as such the forward mounting points of part 11 align perfectly. The AMG version's lower bumper sticks out more, and the part I highlighted acts like the gap filler between the bumper itself and part 11.
THe fact that it has slots for clips that are protruding from the bumper tells me that its a part of the entire inner bumper bracket. Part number: 209-885-08-65
Friend has a clk500 that needs a front bumper. Ill check what his old broken bumper looks like. Might be different than the clk'63 but its worth checking out
Seeing that there are three or four w209 clk bumper designs, it wouldn't surprise me if they just fabricated that small part to fill in the gap like you said.
It actually makes sense if one were to consider the inner fender liner (part 11). That presumably stays the same across the W209 line so for the AMG bumper, due to its more pronounced design, there needs to be something extra. From my assessment, the part is indeed part of the bumper, hence the lack of part number. But again, I am happy to be wrong :-)
Yea the part you circled bolts up to part #11. Its gotta be one of those odd parts fabricated to compensate for the difference in bumper design between the clk63 and regular clk55.
Also I noticed 06 band up clk have a slightly more pointy bumper versus earlier models. Clk55 has same bumper as my c55. Im gonna go out right now to look at mine but the car is really low so I might not be able to get a good view.
Edit: Just checked and the c55 has a different setup. This has to be specific to clk63 or at least 06 and up clk
I think the depth as I demonstrated here is different on a c55/clk55 bumper vs clk63. Clk63 is slightly deeper which would explain the small adapter. We can confirm this if we both do some measuring.
I took the whole passenger side apart hoping to find a part number, and what do you know, under the grime there it was. The passenger part is 209-885-06-16, whereas the driver side is 209-885-05-16. They go under the very descriptive (!!!) name of "reinforcement."
Below is a photo of the passenger side for reference - photo taken with the passenger wheel and forward inner fender liner off, looking through the wheel well toward the front of the car.
