I had similar but sudden issues a few years ago on my 2004 CLK500, (It would trow this codes and other depending on OBD scanner) and it ended being the Transmission Control Module (Shifter Lever Assembly), which pretty much seats underneath and surprisingly enough outside the car with not so good insulation and it rusts the motherboard and having low voltage here and there, in my case it just happened suddenly, I was close enough home to arrive on 1st gear, I reseted transmission (Holding gas pedal for about 20s-30s with key on 2 position) but this only helped me arrive home, after that reset voltage was not enough to shift on the module, after replacing this part all codes were cleared and transmission shifted without any issues. I expect this module to go bad as well in a few years since it’s defective in all 722.9 TCUs made by siemens (literally all of them). They rust internally, there are some rebuilds but too expensive, hopefully you get yours working properly soon, let us know the outcome, please!
