Important Notice about aftermarket airfilter.
Do not buy BMC for sure because it is not designed correctly to work with our airboxs(W209). I took mine out to see how they are.
The two top ends were melted and it looked horrible.
Side note) No grease in the airbox what so ever, which clears all the worries about over grease BS that people have been talking about. It's not true.
So I decided to compare the filters. Stock vs. BMC. vs K&N. The stock definitely has more filteration area than the other two. restrictive? May be but it had more filteration area than aftermarket filters.
K&N is certainly designed better to fit perfectly. and it had more filteration area compared to BMC. I thought BMC was a better fit but it had unnecessarily thicker outer area which ended up melting.
It must have been the engine heat that melted the filter a bit. I purchased the 3M high temperature aluminum foil to keep the airbox cool. I thinkg this is necessary with the installation of aftermarket filter. Man.. I didn't know that airbox could get that hot.
Well.. for now I have the OEM filters. temped to try green filter now.
All u folks, stay away from BMC.
I wrote to BMC and they gave me a UPS order to ship it back to Italy and will give me a refund. Will update you soon.
Got green filter on the way, we will see.
