What are your thoughts on the differences and preferences of these two CLK's? I know the W209 as slightly more HP and different style but any thoughts on what you all would prefer?
Had a 208 430 as my first car and currently own an 05 55 coupe. I love both cars and are amazing in their own individual ways. It really just depends what look you prefer. Both cars are pretty similar in weight and power, with the 209 being slightly heavier and having a little more power. If you want that classic 90s Benz look (especially with a set of monoblocks), go with the 208. If you want a slightly modern look that also retains the sexy design language of the early to mid 2000s, go with the 209. But if I had to choose one it’s easily the 209 55.
My only issue with the W209 AMG cars is the rear, I wish MB had modified the rear fender slightly and made them wider. Not as much as the BS, but only slightly.
Even though the W208/W209 are inherently very similar, they come from two eras. I think the maturity and stateliness of the W208 gives and utmost aura of classic Mercedes, so I think it is the preferred embodiment.
