Clk55 Dream build

Hello everyone. I have a 2005 clk55 coupe that I am currently in the process of swapping an m113k into. Goal is fastest clk in the world, eventually. Wanted to start this thread to log my process in case anyone does something similar, and to keep track of my process. Currently have done some maintenance on it but besides that it is bone stock. I have an Instagram set up for my build as well. Project_.55

Very cool, will be fun to follow along on a new build.

Looks like that car is super clean.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Nice car! Looks like a super clean car to start the swap with! I have a 2003 CLK55 that I bought cheap to do the 113K swap to.
Mine was well abused and not nice like yours. Please keep this updated with your swap info.

Thank you! Mine definitely has its flaws and electrical gremlins I need to iron out, bought it about 2 years ago and I've been sorting out stuff since, but she runs well none the less. Had you any major hurdles or obstacles you had with your swap?

Are you rebuilding the engine or just cleaning it up and swapping it in?

My swap hasn’t started yet. In the process of rebuilding the engine now before we swap it in. I have removed all the interior and have been removing ALL unnecessary wiring. The interior trim and seats will go back in but lots removed to reduce weight. We are going to have the car street legal but will be a drag car for us.
When we get started pulling everything out I will start a thread to document it.

There are several topics on here with swaps. But most don’t have all the details listed.

Keep posting I’ll be watching.

Looking on marketplace right now for a compressor so I buy and do a leak down test to determine how far I need to go if my piston rings are bad, the engine does has 205k miles, so I'm going to replace all the gaskets I can, the cylinder walls look fine so that's a plus, trying not to go too crazy as this is my first swap/rebuild but we'll see, if needed I'll take it down to bare block and just make some more money lmao. Yeah, I've been doing lots of research on the swaps from YouTube videos to communities and forums. I definitely want to be documenting most everything for a full swap guide for people in the future. Didn't really document pulling the engine too much but that's pretty straight forward I think to most. Nice you guys are doing full weight reduction! I defiantly plan to do some but for now since I still drive the car, I'm not touching it till I need to swap the oil pan/pump/pick up then I'll be pulling the w209 engine at the end. Are you taking it down to bare block or how far is your rebuild?

Sounds good.

We bought MBH long tube headers for a CLK for the swap. Hopefully that fits well and works out. Yes down to the empty block. Weistec pistons, stock crank, stock cams, all new bearings and seals. We did get a set of reworked heads and a Weistec blower.

When the project started I just wanted to swap in a stock 113k and have fun. It escalated for sure and that’s why we haven’t finished yet. lol. Look at my thread on my E55 listed in my sig line. You’ll see I get a little crazy.

No real list. My son has been handling getting the gaskets and seals. Since it was down to the bare block all the gaskets and seals are being replaced. He basically was writing down what was needed as he disassembled it.

Do you by chance have the TCU and Wiring harness out of the Donor S55? If you do, send me a PM.

2005 CLK55 is a rare car. Less than 250 made I believe. Came with the bigger AMG brakes, quad exhaust, and updated interior. I love mine

Holy smokes where have you been?! lol

What are you driving these days, do you still have the CLK?

Theres a cars and coffee in Maryland every saturday I went to last year, would love to go to another one when it warms up a bit. I'm in Philly so not too far, would love to check out the car if you still have it.

I recently picked up an HPS supercharger kit for my 55, planning on doing a build here soon.

Glad to see you're still lurking around

Yup, along with a diff heat sink, updated engine cover, 1 inch larger rims, c55 steering rack ( 03 and 04 had the 208 rack ), lower, 2 piece rotos with the 6 prot brakes, 200 on the dash (all 05 amgs came with that though, the 03 and 04s had 160) uhhh there may be more but that's all I can think of for now lol. I had a 2004 clk55 coupe in brilliant silver as well that I was going to build into what the 2005 was then thankfully found the 2005 maybe 2 months after so I had both for about a year before selling the 04, 2 very different cars.

Added this TCU tune by TJ Merry in December lol. Though over the weekend I finally replaced my windshield after almost 2 years. Put in a new windshield wiper/blinker selector. Also swapped steering wheels to one from a 2009 e350 I believe, had a 209 part number and it works perfectly , minus some hiccups. Much prefer the look of it and finally, actual paddles instead of buttons, maybe one day I'll get a 63 bs wheel, but for now it works. School ending soon and I will have more time to tear down the m113k. Small update.

Finally pulled the supercharger, labeled the wiring harness and cleaned up the block a bit.

You'll be happy with the MK-Ultra Tune. I just put his SLR Black Series TCU in my W220 S55 and couldn't be happier.

Transforms the whole dynamic of the car and makes it feel much more modern.

Good progress so far.

Thanks Joe! Yup the tune was a very nice addition, it also allowed my car to remember it had a TCU as it did not before which finally allowed me to pass smog LOL. I quite like the agility mode that came with the tune, I pulled blue tops from my doner transmission, so I need to send the tcu out for adjustments when I put the tops in. Finals are this week so much more progress coming up soon!
