W208 CLK55 differential woes

Hey yall.. been making my way down the w208 CLK55 differential rabbit hole for a while now.. after a pinion seal replacement or after 210k miles the rear diff is tired and whiney.. plan was to pick up a used one and rebuild my old with a quaife.. well after a few years I found one!! I swapped it in and decided to drive it before putting in new fluid 😂😂

as you may know these things are literally impossible to find..

needless to say @ governor the old fluid either boiled or something happened and most of it escaped out of the breather and blowing out pinion seal. Drove it about 3 miles home..

now there’s a bunch of play up/down in and out in the pinion.. looks like this one will be getting the rebuild service..

I’ve never cracked open a diff..curious what anyone thinks.. If it’s even able to be fixed!!
anyone have a lead on a quaife?
