NYIAS "Mystery AMG" CLK63 Black Edition?
AMG's showing a "mystery" car at the upcoming NYC auto show:
From the door handles (only one) and roofline, it's a coupe. And based on the proportions, I think it's a CLK?:

On April 4th, Mercedes AMG is set to reveal an all-new AMG model at the New York Auto Show. An anonymous reader sent us these images which are posted in the Mercedes AMG Private Lounge web site for AMG owners only. They don't reveal much, but look pretty sweet.
In the past Mercedes has revealed AMG models at NY such as the CL 65 (W215) and SL 65 in 2004 and E 63 in 2006. But which one could it be? Perhaps new generation W216 CL 65, CLS 65 or even an E 65?
We currently know the new W204 C-Class which debuted in Geneva a few weeks ago is expected to make its market debut towards the end of this coming summer in the US. Therefore, New York would be the most likely event to make its North American public debut since there are no more major auto shows until LA in November. With that in mind, it is highly probably the mystery AMG will be the new 2009 C 63 AMG model. Other supporting evidence includes this image above taken from the AMG Private Lounge site which shows the side profile although covered with a blanket.

More pics - these are a bit puzzling, especially the one that looks like a rear fender/trunk shot (facing the spoiler lip) - those rear lines don't seem to match the CLK, but neither do they match the CL or SL...:

I've seen the SLK55 Black Series. It was claimed to have a 400 h.p. N/A M113 and be 600lbs. lighter due to extensive carbon fiber replacement parts and removal of the convertible top hydraulics.

So I looked at the photos again, and this one (assuming it's indeed the same car...) doesn't make sense:
Because that's a long, downward-sloping trunk, kind of CLS-like but longer (and much longer than the CLK's trunk cover), with strongly-defined edges. Come to think of it, it sort of reminds me of the rear of an early '90's Saab 900 convertible

And more significantly, it doesn't match with what seems to be a large, wide spoiler on the back of the covered car:

my vote is also for the clk63 coupe release...
because: i picked up my clk55 at a huge euromotorcars last week and my service guy asked if i would get the clk63. i said only if they ever come out with a coupe...i never understood the whole AMG convertible thing. i said i didnt think they would be released though.
he said there's a beautiful one covered in a back room of the showcase area and wasnt sure when it would be out on display.
he may have gotten it confused with the E63 since we were discussing it earlier....guess we'll find out. i would personally LOVE a NA 475hp+ clk. :drool:

If I remember correctly , porsche pulled the carrera gt out of nowhere...I know this won't be a supercar (doesn't appear to be low enough/have the correct proportions), but hopefully benz does the same thing and gives us a model no one was really expecting. As unrealistic as it may be, I'm really hoping for a new C-class coupe or CLK.

Thats true - I guess what I'm saying is that I hope its a new concept that is very close to production. Something along the lines of the M3 that recently debuted. Technically its a "concept" but it probably looks pretty damn close to what the actual M3 will be (with the addition of some CSL-esque style elements). Again, chances are its something like a black edition AMG rather than a whole new car, but I can still hope, right?

It's probably be the CLK Black series which carries a rumored price of 130k+, my dealer @ MB Manhattan been talking about it since last year, if that's true, I know I will be getting a call from him, cause my name was already on the list since last June when I picked up my E55.

Auto Week just published the pictures of CL65, so no doubt the "mystery AMG" is the long rumored CLK 63 AMG black series. AMG sources said customers wanted a even more performace hence the black series. Now the next qusestion, How much? My guess is it will be in the same ballpark as the porche turbo and GT3 RS, which is 125K.
