goalie,
Generally speaking ecu upgrades on N/A engines may bring about higher numbers but rarely improve power under the curve. This system improves the power under the curve where it is useable.

This is very true, especially if they are Long Tube design headers. On C6 6.0 liter base there fetching 30-35 rwhp w/Long tube headers X pipe & high flow cats, cat-back w/little to NO mufflers ie just reso's will easily net another 10 rwhp, I've seen plenty of C6 dynos supporting these gains, no reason the CLK63BS would be any different in HP gains then throw ECU on top deff 40+ HP

Installing the long tube headers and deleting the primary cats will cause problems. I believe if the tuning is dialed in right, you will get more than 40 hp, but so far i dont think any tuner has a way to remove the CEL after deleting the primaries.

Cheers,

Adam

I'm sure there are a few floating around here just hit the old search button Once again I agree w/you these mods should produce EZ 40rwhp +

You probably already read your Kleemann news letter? If not they just partnered up w/Samsung Cheap electronics giant, I wonder what will come of this Acquisition/Merger

It will benefit Kleemann most more than Samsung (in terms of marketing and R&D) but it is a big step forward for Kleemann.

Deff agree Samsung's sales are in the billions, there a giant!

Back to the headers I found this before and after dyno w/Kleemann headers

Now from reading the graphs I got, stock rwhp 302 & rwto 314.4
Post header gains rwhp 319.1 rwto 343
Makes a total 17.1 rwhp 28.6 rwto not bad at all considering tune is needed, and this example has stock cat-back, a free flowing cat-back w/reso's only (no mufflers, that's why the track model sounds like a beast)grab another 10 rwhp & 10 rwto
While you're at it throw on a pair of Crank and Alternator undriven pullies another 15rwhp easy

So w/out even tuning or X pipe or hi-flo cats you could get to 42.1 rwhp 53.6 rwto for ****s n' giggles lets say 10 more rwhp for ECU (low ball)
Be at 52.1 rwhp 65.6 rwto

Don't forget about the ole' Carbon filter removal mod/& throw a K&N into this mix

Here's where I found this info, I believe it was just stock besides headers and obvious primary cat delete to hook it all back up..
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...n+headers+dyno

I have A similar system on my C6 Vette - Bullet brand, cat-back system straight pipes w/NO mufflers and nice resonators ONLY! Has a huge demon muscle car sound and another plus the old muffler cat back weighed about 20-25 lbs more than the new ones Latest dyno looks to be 10+ rwhp and 10 rwto pipes are about 3" frickin' wide best part is the burble and crackle on deceleration, or manually down shifting.

You guys will love it! sure would be awesome to see such a refined gorgeous CLK63bs barking like a damned race car! Mines soooo loud now I was out in the city driving her hard red lining thru the gears and I saw a teenaged kid w/his back to the street w/headphones on wildly spins around on the sidewalk slamming both his hands over his headphones/ears w/ face like that!

I loved it priceless, his goofy friends were pointing & laughing at him

Jim,

How much HP and TQ does the CLK63 make? How much does a CL63 make? Same motors, the CLK, like the C 63 is just detuned across the whole power band. Dyno-Comp in Scottsdale has flashed a few of the CLK 63's and seen a 40HP increase as well as a similar jump in TQ. I will try and get a dyno sheet.

goalie,
Completely different intake on Clk63 black, different ecu tuning as well. I could proly get 100 hp if I flashed the ecu to run on nitromethane. Might have a CEL problem.

Not to ,IF the reflash only changes the power at the very top of the curve and raises the timing to run on higer grade fuel is only dyno hp. what have you accoumplished.

Like many of you I've seen countless dyno graphs, and if it doesn't put an increase under the curve, its But in the end its your $.

You called Samsung Cheap? I think you should really need to update yourself with real information here. Samsung is by far the world leader in electronics and semiconductors(this is the core technology of these days), and cellphones.

Cheers,

Kleeman can remove the CE light though an ECU flash.
Also, you can just use o2 sensor spacers with the factory o2 sensors to prevent a CE light with the primary cats are removed.

This is not an after market piece but amg parts. Looking to see if there is any interest in pursuing as I have the source.

Ray,
Great meeting you Linda and Nicole at the USGP. The saftey car in that exhaust configuration will proly get you banned at Laguna Seca with their sound limits. But that car sounded better than a 66 Dodge street hemi with Doug's headers.

I'd be quite interested if it could be retrofitted to the 63 cab.

I will be in Affalterbach 10/4/07 (picking up my CLK 63 black) and will be speaking with Wolf Zimmerman (amg board member and a true car guy). I believe we have a distributor that AMG feels confortable with who has also met with the AMG management. I'm as anxious as you are to announce it.

Part of the issue is fuel quality in the USA. The ecu has to be reprogramed with installation of the headers. Secondly, for those who what carbon fibre door panels it requires removeal of airbag sensor, and the factory is a little uneasy with this mod. Seats should not be a problem, but there going to be pricey. The harness bar and belts shouldn't be a problem.

The question of installation is the distributors major concern. If someone botches up the installation who are you going to blame? Believe me amg is really concerned about their reputation.

Darn my B-day is Oct 7th I should have been one of the chosen. Enjoy the trip next week.

Jim,
You are quite right. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the DTM rear spoiler or the one used on the P900 development car. (in carbon fibre of course) This car will need more rear down force for track use.
Have a happy birthday. I'll miss your party as AMG has us on the Sachsenring
on 10/7.

Might I suggest you taking a video camera and a suction mount of some type to take track footage on my B-Day...

Is anyone worried it might be too loud? Would it be legal? Would MB still honor the warranty?

That safety car exhaust is WAY too loud for the street and I guarantee you it will not pass CA smog. There's a reason it's only on the cars that are only driven on closed circuits.
