Would you change the wheels of your BS?

Im not a fan of polished wheels and thinling of upgrading. Would this be a good idea or should I just leave them alone? Also if anyone did pls post pics

Thanks
Alvin

those rims cost about 1500 a piece. it would be very hard to replace them with anything lighter or stronger.

so. either powdercoat them black (i like the black shotpeen anodize finish HRE uses)

or get a set of Dymags. youd be taking a step down if you went with anything else.

The engineer at Tire Rack was really impresed by the quality of the BS wheel, as was the owner who came down to look. I think they will have processed the data to know what else will work by Tuesday, so I'm not sure anybody knows all your options yet. Brake clearance, offset, and accomodating the tie rod ends (which seem quite low) are the variables. The current design is hard to clean, but otherwise attractive, at least to my eyes.
As I said in an earlier post, they are also the only part of the car stamped "Made in USA" (by Alcoa).
If you get rid of yours, let me know, as I want a second set for the R compounds. I am currently on Bridgestones for daily use. AS

Personally, I think the 19's are about as far as I'd care to push the performance envelope. I was wondering if the reason for the air pressure of 48 lbs (!!!!) front is because the section height is so low, you need more air in the tire.
I actually wanted 18's, but the tie rod ends interfere by 1-2mm. AS

20's would fit easily...the width you choose would be "how wide can i go?"

I'd like to see some wide 20s on there just to see how much it can pushed.

The stockers for the CLK 63 BLACK is light enough. I won't want to purchase any aftermarket wheels. Maybe powdercoat is the appropriate solution.

I think some dark grey DYMAG's with the Carbon Fiber rim would look perfect with all the other Carbon Fiber on our cars.

That is what I am planning. It is the only option that I like that is lighter than the stock factory wheels....

Have you seen a price yet?

Is everybody considering 20 inch rims, or staying with 19's? I spoke to the wheel engineer at Tire Rack, and they really don't have a 19 inch wheel for this car.
Lastly, what is the price (per set of 4) that we are dealing with? Our current AMG (Alcoa) rims list for about $6,000 thru the dealer. AS

I was going to try and stay with 19". It is hard enougt to get R compound tires on 19" let alone 20".

i think i will try to get a 20' rim with 30 series tires for daily use, and use the sticky tires for the track... if and when i ever get to a track. other than the dymag rims i like the look of the 360 forged with carbon fiber overlay, it would look very nice with all the accents, i think they posted once or twice on this site www.360forged.com

I spoke with the DYMAG rep today.
4 Carbon Fiber rims with a 9 spoke Magnesium center.
$9200.00 for the set.
