Possible to retrofit back seats in CLK63 Black Series

I know you will all hate me for this,

But is it possible to retrofit back seats and seatbelts in the CLK 63 Black Series?. For daily and 90% of usage I would like to be able to carry 4 passengers. For Track usuage I would pull them out.

Thoughts?

It is possible, obviously seats out of a standard CLK 350 or 550 will fit. You will have to remove all of the panels that come in the Black Series. I would also check on the battery, I think it may be in the back seat area on a black series, it may have to be relocated. As for taking the seats in and out for track use, that sounds like more work than it would be worth. It is a tight fit, and I'm not sure if the rear seats would be able to be removed without removing the front seats first.

If I were you I would just buy a C63 and throw some nice mods on it. You can easily bring it up to Black Series HP. A few slight suspension mods and some DOTR tires and you are talking about a serious threat on a road course. It would be a nice track day car and it has a comfy back seat as well.

Going against the grain. If you want a 4 passenger car get a 4-door. There's a reason why AMG didn't install a backseat.

You would have to replace the front seats too as the backrest on the stock seat does not tilt forward to accomodate entry/exit of the back seat area. Not sure why you would really want to do this but to each his/her own.

A. Would this car be survivable in NYC streets and traffic A.

B. If im going to or from a dinner party, lounge, club etc.. with more than 1 Girl (Happens quite often) id like a place for the other passengers to sit..

I assume they could just sit in the open empty bucket spaces.. or i could retrofit a back seat.

I dont have the need nor space nor intention of owning more than one car at this time and the CLK 63 Black Series for my personal daily use would suite me quite well otherwise. hence the question

The rear seat is missing to deduce weight and give a performance impression. If AMG had really intended this car as a track star, it wouldnt have put a crappy 7 speed automatic which doesnt even let you double downshift when you feel like it should which the SMG BMW does.. so dont give me the snobby back seat answer

Speaking of seats... I would like to replace the front seats with the Euro version seats. Probably save about 50 lbs per seat.

Then simply don't buy one. All AMGs come with autos. If you want an SMG, get a BMW.

Speaking of seats, you would also need to change out the front seats. The Front Seats do not have any normal tilt forward mechanism to allow people into the back.

Weight Issue

There are also other reasons why there is no accomodation for rear seat passengers.

If you take the time to look, you will see that there is a weight restriction on the amount of luggage to be carried. I believe it's only 110 lbs.

So adding seats and passengers might easily exceed that, no matter how slight the passenger might be . . .

I was unaware that there are weight restrictions? Im assuming the cars suspension cannot handle more weight and is already close to maxed out.. Seems to me like the rear seats were removed simply because they figured out that passenger weight would possibly damage the suspension or cause it to bottom out. That is quite unfortunate and seems like MB was slacking on there suspension design..

On another note, in the AMG Private Lounge, there is another character who has done a rear Child seat retrofit. And as for the front seats tilting, It takes about take 10 seconds to adjust the seat forward enough for someone to climb in.

Slacking on suspension design.... you seriously crack me up. You can just have them lick the battery terminals while they are in the back seats.

Nice cracks about the gearbox. Doesn't seem to be slowing the car down at all on the track.

You really SHOULDN't buy this car. You will nto be happy and then we are all going to have to listen to you complaign untill you sell it for a huge loss.

Go buy an M3.

Is there a full moon or something? The wierdo's are coming out of the woodwork on this forum. Is this guy really arguing the facts about a C63 vs. a CLK63 BS? He must be related to the guy on the other thread that claims stock Z06's runs high 10's

Just when you think you've heard it all..............................
