Tires - PSI

One of my tires were low today, so I decided to look at the manufacturer specs by the driver's side door sill. I was taken aback with the #s: 48psi fronts / 44 psi rears...anyone else noticed this and whether or not you guys are following MB's recommendation? That's the highest I've ever seen.

Same question, I reset my pressure to 38/33 but you're right, the recommended pressure inside the door is 48/44, the gas tank is 38/33 up to 155mph and 48/44 up to 186. The owners manual says 38/33.

48/44 is overkill for the street especially if you are using the car as a DD. the 38/33 recommendation will give you the most comfortable ride without sacrificing too much handling. I have been using 42/38 as a compromise for daily driving as I find it results in a little bit better handling without sacrificing too much ride comfort. I would recommend starting with the 38/33 for a little while and then experiment upwards and see if you feel a difference.

Why do you guys run so much pressure front?? Is it because of the larger tire widths? If you say weight distribution, isn't it close to 50/50? Also although turn in, is I am sure better, doesn't it get wayy to greasy with that much pressure when on track? I've never heard of such high pressure. I do remember that the clk63 regular runs this much with the smaller tires. Why?
