The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Interestingly, the CLK63 BS resale has fared better (to date) than some other cars released by Mercedes-Benz and AMG over the past decade or so. Examples that immediately come to mind are the CL65 or S65, SLR and virtually any '600' going all the way back to the R129 and W140s.
But, I think the BS is unique in that the niche for the BS is even smaller than AMG or MB standard fare. I think the BS buyer is more focused in what they desire out of this special AMG - not merely seeking a cruiser but a purpose-built rocketship. That contributes to a greatly reduced pool of potential resale buyers, along with the current economic situation.
Long term - I think the collectibility/desirability/value will do better than most other MBs out there for the following reasons:
1. It's aesthetically beautiful
2. Truly limited production
3. Incredible performer
4. Repairable/Reliable systems (brakes, suspension, engine, transmission)
I'm keeping a close eye on the resale market on these cars. I'm planning on having one tucked in my garage at some point.
