I totally agree with your explanation Jim!

The Scuderia brake system is composite and MASSIVE!!

JT's BS is a very easy car to drive fast but to bring it to the edge that you need to run takes seat time just like in any other performance vehicle.

You definitely see the power of JT's BS on the front stretch though!

What the internet racers don't understand is it's easier to drive a BS fast than a Scud. It takes seat time and talent to extract the most from the Scud, so even with equal club level drivers a BS maybe quicker.

I take exception to the "no problem" as everyone I've run against had big problems getting by and had to work their a** off and even by theri own admission.

Why thank you Jim - at least your paying attention. I did indeed say "I think the Scud would take me" that was going to be my next post if Mr. Ruin My Friendly THread would rear his ugly head again.

Let me end this now. This was a fun day for me - I am posting Videos for the MBWorld community to enjoy. I was proud of my car and proud of my advancement. Yes I know the Scud is twice the cost of a BS and I dont want to be like the guy in a 500 horsepower Civic that says - my car is faster than yours - Yes but when you drive away your still in the Civic.
So I realize that the Scud is a more desirable car and more highly revered on the track. I also checked the specs on the HP and acceleration times and yes its prob a tick faster than me too. The extra 100 hp advantage I have is eaten up by the more than 1000 lb weight disadvantage.
However I was also ACTUALLY THERE and saw for myself what transpired.
I was looking in the passenger side mirror and turning around the whole time watching that Scud on us. Sometimes he was right on us other times we would power away from him - the way my car was set up was def. hurting our chances - the other thing that was hurting us was this -
THE GUY DRIVING HAD NEVER DRIVEN A BLACK BEFORE AND HELLLOOOO HE IS DRIVING SOMEONE ELSES CAR - MAINLY MINE! AND HE IS YELLING TO ME AS WE ARE DRIVING - I DONT WANT TO PUSH YOUR CAR THAT HARD CAUSE I KNOW HOW I AM AND I DONT WANT TO WRECK YOUR CAR!
Well I appreciated that and duly noted.
Good answer.
after ab 5 laps he waived the Scud past - and repeated to me -listen man this isnt my car i dont want to wreck it trying to beat this guy or something to that effect.
Now I find it kinda sad that I have to make this post at all and cant just post this up and have people enjoy on a Mercedes Enthusiast Forum BTW and inevitably have some tool w poor language skills dissect a situation that he wasnt even there for.
Quite Frankly like any proud parent I dont care if my car is faster or not I still love it. The fact that it hangs w one of the most highly regarded street/track cars should say enough.
Most of the guys there including the instructor have no clue ab this car - many of them walked over during tire swaps and were like oh wow did you install those shocks w the reservoirs? and I'm like no those are stock. Nobody really understands this car unless they really know cars. They think its just a flared CLK.
Now enjoy the vids and all future ones I may post and leave the hating to someone else thread.
THE SCUD IS A BETTER TRACK CAR! OK? There i said it .
BUt... I still pulled on the str8 - drink the Hatorade.

Nice vid...BS hides it's weight so well it's nothing short of amazing

I'll just say this though...the rumor the Scud driver was a pro was either false or he was a sucky "pro" if you had a newbie behind the wheel and he didn't pass you in and around the braking zones.

Main thing is that none of this really matters because as you said, the video was a great watch for all car lovers on this forum and I thank you for the post and write up...

You're right, its just annoying and why I often hesitate to post anything or say anything at all. And I jus didnt want to be perceived as the idiot who thinks his car is the greatest thing since sliced bread knowing there are alot of cars more capable strip track or otherwise. Thats the last "diatribe" promise

I am waiting for more vids from various sources - I will post when I get some.
Thanks.

This was just a fun, private track day rental - with some mega-buck hardware in attendance (my C32 and a race-prepped Scirocco being the exceptions ); it was not racing... club, pro, or otherwise. Consequently, it was set up as a "lead-follow" with the advanced group allowed one passing zone, on the main straight.

All in all, John's Black raised a few eyebrows from those who didn't know how well they can perform on-track. I can attest... she's more than just a pretty face.

Another internet racer who couldn't find his way around a race track, but VERY quick on the keyboard to Google laptimes. God, I love this forum.

Hey Klown - Klinh - whatever. Wheres your car in there?
Let me pull up the times for the Toyota Camry, Nissan Sentra and the Altima you should be nestled somewhere in there.
ANd Klown listen if your going to participate in the forums try to keep on top of whats going on ok?
You see my car is far from stock Klown and its running at least 500 rear wheel and 600 fly wheel.
and it has different springs and rear brakes and ss brake lines.
So i dont care if Stig Sting or whoever drove what Stock BS around the track it doesn't apply to my car - perhaps instead of just trying to emulate the look of a BS as you referenced in the pictures of your car why dont you try driving one and stop driving womens convertibles and see what a real car feels like MAN!!! LOL.

And one more thing "Sorry to spoiled your party" Klown thats S P O I L - there is no "ed" needed at the end that would be the past tense version of the word Spoil. Its Ok buddy I'll slow things down you for you so you can catch up - you're already used to that driving a 500.

JT, nothing to worry about. You did take your BS to the track and used it for what it was actually intended for, instead of parading it up and down some boulevard on the weekend. And for that, you have my utmost respect! BTW, a road course sure beats the drag strip, doesn't it?

must have been the STig's music choice that day........the build thread of your car with the carbon fiber is what really stuck out.....those carbon fiber pieces especially the grill look so much better than stock. So what did we learn from arguing with idiots on the internet?

Linh,

Don't jack JT's thread. He just wanted to share his track experience. No need to convolute it with which car is better or how the Scud could've done something different etc.. Again he's just sharing his experience. Don't worry about it. We're all enthusiasts here.

Carry on folks.

Thanks Buddy!

Its okay though - this guy is such an easy mark - I enjoy this stuff -messing w the feeble minded is almost as much fun as the track.
LZH pointed out many of his idiotic comments and his English is hilarious at best. Clearly an ESL guy and a complete fool, who knows nothing ab the Black Series.
