My BS goes in for a "B" service tomorrow - WHAT IS CORRECT OIL?
Based on a search Jim you say this is the correct oil. 05/40 Mobil 1 ESP Formula. Where do I get this oil? Will Manny, Moe and Jack have it? Should the dealer have it? Part Number? I'll postpone if necessary......
I talked to the dealer this afternoon and they had no idea Mercedes changed the specs on the approved oil for a CLK63 BS.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Here's a post from Jim on the subject:
BTW, the answer to Jimmy's question about what oil at the A service was Mobil 1 0/40.

Had my B service done a couple of month ago. Ordered the oil before I dropped off my car. The correct oil is: MOBIL 1 5W-40 ESP formula M, MB-Approval 229.51
If your dealer doesn't stock it, there is a place in South Carolina you can buy it from. Moore & Balliew Oil Co. You need the buy 2 6qt. containers. With the filter change it takes a little less than 9 qts.

You got me thinking on this one and I just went out to my garage and checked to see if it's the same oil I use in my 1995 Porsche 928 GTS and it IS! I had a 78 Porsche 928 with just 1480 miles and the motor performed noticeably better (basically it quit leaking and made less noise at start up after it had been sitting for a while) with the 5W/40 Mobil 1 ESP oil than whatever was in it when I bought it. There was an exhaustive oils study done by a very credible researcher that was part of the 928 community in Australia regarding which oil is the best application for a 928 motor and far and away the Mobil 1 5W/40 ESP was the best. I have a source and I'll make sure that's what goes in the BS!

I think he has a point on the technical side, but he just has problems in expressing his points without hyperbole. I'm not sure what the margin is on oil but I bet it's low!
It's the $4,500 tunes that pay his bills!![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Some C63 people have had v goods results.

2008 MBZ CLK63 AMG Black Series
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I see 2 other SoCal Black Series owners posting on this topic and I just got mine (Redondo Beach). That's 3, plus my friend in Simi Valley... so when are we going to all host a meet?!

beginning my 2007 all mobil 1 motors are filled with 5w40 esp oil which has become defacto the mobil 1 0w40 replacement. however, 0w40 is still a viable option for all motors.
