Opinions 2008 Porsche GT2

I have never tracked a FGT. Just passing on info. I sure would hope it would be faster than a gt3. It only has at least a 150hp advantage.
At the end of the day, I love street cars that can still go to the local store. My point was made and if you don't agree, then so be it. A GT2 ( or any of the ones you mentioned) can still fit quite handily in any parking space except for the FGT. If you are not going to park it then you have found you perfect match.

I couldn't let your comment go, I've track driven the FGT, hands down faster than a Gt3 and easier to drive. Put a roll bar in any of the sports cars and there is really no room.
My friend with the FGT has a CGT, F430, 993tt 3.8, and a GT3. His car of choice for the track is the FGT. Let's face it neither a GT2 or FGT is a very good daily driver, but you don't buy them to go to McDonalds.

I'm sorry but if I'm spending $169K on a car it sure as hell would not be a Porsche (save for the CGT which you won't touch for $169K). They all (997S, TT, GT3, GT2) look the same to 95% of the general public and IMO there is nothing exotic at all about it. I'd be looking at FGT or a Lambo.

The Ford GT will put a smile on your face every time you drive it. I've known 2 people that have had one and they wouldn't even consider a Pcar over it.

that's your call man; if thats what stirs your soul then go get it. Just knowing that I could have a barely used 997TT for $85K these days, make it a 2WD for nominal $$$, there is no way on earth I would pay twice that for a GT2?...to each their own.

One of the more interesting aspects of living in NVA are the many different ad hoc car shows every Saturday. In my case there is one about 10 miles from my home where you'll find upwards of 50-100 cars of all makes, models and years coming and going during the day. This week end among the Vipers, Cobras, street rods, customs, new and old Camaros, Shelbys (GT350/500, Super Snakes, GT500KR), Corvettes, MoPars and etc. was an 06 Ford GT. I was able to talk to the owner at length and found out a lot about the car which just added to my my desire to eventually own one. It turns out he owns eight (8) GT's and races several of them. There was also a Porsche GT3so I was also able to compare and contrast GT2 and GT3 ownership with its owner too. After these discussions I'm convinced a Ford GT is in my future. BTW, I parked my BS next to the GT3 for about an hour. We drew a large polite crowd of gawkers, wanna-buy one, what is that, that's a rare MB, car crazies, amateur and professional photographers and etc.

^^Did you ask him about parking it? My buddy still contends he hated it.
I have always loved the FGT and I really like how it will hold its value. A white one with blue stripes would be killer.

No, I didn't ask him that. He has a white and blue stripe car. The car he was driving was gray with blue stripes. I was more interested in performance, reliability, upkeep, cost of ownership (he has serious $$$ and doesn't care), present and future collectability (no question), driving comfort (not a grand tourer) and overall strengths and weaknesses. This guy was a GT fanatic and knew everything there is to know about these cars, at least he impressed and convinced me. The car he was showing was autographed by Shelby, the FGT Production Manager and several others who were not familiar to me. He also said he just got it back from the body shop after wrecking the front end at Summit Point, a local raceway. I couldn't tell that it had been damaged.
