CLK 63 Black Series
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have been thinking about selling my BS for a much slower Ferrari 355 F1 Spider 1997 1999 model. I know this is a big sacrifice for a much stronger, more reliable, newer MB to give up for a much older, less reliable and slower Ferrari. Always wanted an Italian car and have slowly graduate up over 46 cars to get the BS, thinking this would solve my craving for by dream car.
Any comments? any buyer's.
Here is a link to photos of my car.

If there is one Fcar any true enthusiast should own in his lifetime... its the 355 (preferably w/ tubi exhaust
). Go for it, you only live life once, might as well live alittle.
The 97+ are more reliable and don't suffer as much from the exhaust manifold issues of the earlier 355s. The 95s are OBD1 and have dual intake tract which is supposedly more easily modified than the OBD2 355s but honestly you will never make a ton of power NA out of the 355s anyways. Drive it and enjoy it for what it is, its a great car. plus... now they are getting dirt cheap

The sound of the 355 is simply second to none...that said, the thing just doesnt operate 1/10th as smoothly as the bs for a performance car. That said, there is romance in that at times for a sports car, so whatever your heart is telling you, go with it!!!

CLK 63 Black Series
its of course a 2008 CLK BS, silver in color. Only options i added was I ordered new logos and name plates and had them blackened by a MB Autobody store and had them installed on car. On this car it looks better then the Chrome ones. Also added a clear bra on car. Just changed oil. I always change oil twice as much as recommended.
And like I already told u guys MB sent me a email confirming that only 349 were built and shipped to US.
Has approx 20,500 miles on it and is babied. never tracked and always garaged. Only driven on weekends and trips to California with me and the wife to get away from the AZ heat.
don't know how to add photos to this link but an one interested can send me a private email and will send pics. Have lots.
Any questions I can send phone number via private email.

Having had a couple Ferraris there is nothing that stirs the soul like the sound of an Italian engine approaching the red line... You gotta go with your heart!

FWIW I too was smitten by the idea of an Italian car. After a lot of wrangling, I got a spot on the list for an F430. After waiting 18 months, it finally came, but was a huge disappointment. I drove it for 900 miles, and sold it back to the dealer, I bought a used BS and a 911 GT3 for less total money - both of which are more satisfying to me in every dimension.

The 430 had a huge number of shortcomings -
it attracts way too much attention
it understeers - the balance is way off as delivered
it broke constantly
it was uncomfortably hot in the cabin after 30 minutes and the climate control was useless.
I drove a friend's Scuderia and the handling was much sharper - but you wouldn't want to drive it every day.
the GT3 laps faster than the base 430, has better dynamics, never breaks, is comfortable, and looks like every other 911 on the road so no one bothers you.

Haha, it was just a joke. just trying to lighten the mood
.
They are great cars... but italian cars do have serious maintenance issues one must consider. Just b/c the 355s are at bargain basement prices doesn't mean that cost of ownership still isn't very high. Maintenance records are CRUCIAL... make sure the appropriate inspections have been done and also make sure clutch was replaced relatively recently and still has a good 60-70%+ still left on its life (you don't want to be doing that... its a pricey job). Take it to a qualified ferrari specialist (independent if you can find one as dealership is $$$) and have them do a proper pre-purchase inspection, it will be worth every penny.
Best of Luck on finding a great 355

It will be awesome to own a Ferrari, but i wouldn't sacrifice a black series for it. I would sell a regular amg if i had it, but not the BS. The choice is yours but both are amazing cars.
