Quote: No, not at all if it is installed corretly and the seams are wrapped around edges...that way you never even see the seams. I have the entire front of my car wrapped all the way up to the windshield, fenders, rocker panels under the doors, side view mirrors, rear fender flares, and behind the rear wheels. Not a scratch nic or ding anywhere
Well, thats too late for me. It's chipped pretty good all over the front parts...

PS - could the 964RS and the AM V8 keep up with you ? I bet the 964 was all over you in the twisties....
The AM V12 could not keep up in the twisties as well, it's more a GT as it turned out.

The 964 was a pain to keep up with. Its weight is definitively a huge advantage, and it still is one hell of a car.

However, it was pretty clear that the skills of the driver weigh in at least as much as the qualities of the car.

We had a chipped + exhaust 997 turbo tiptronic along as well, and that one was so incredibly fast and agile with its 4WD, that we all concluded that that was the best all rounder.

Just the other day my White Series met up with its eloquent sibling the SLS.

No, we didn't race. Which I wouldn't have won by a long shot (unless the race was 'going sideways'). I drove that SLS some time back, and although not hard core at all compared to the CLK, it's in a completely different ballpark (but same league )

The dealer. Bit it takes quite an effort as side airbags have to be removed and more. It's apparently not a trivial install.

Beautiful car. Do you have more pictures of the interior? Not sure if the seats and side door panels are available in the US. Kinda reminds of the CSL interior.

Quote: Well, this is my CLK 63 AMG Black Series story. After I decided it was time to properly jumpstart my midlife crisis due to celebrating my pending 40th birthday, I choose the CLK 63 AMG Black Series to do just that.

I contacted my good friend Steve to see if he was willing to help me find the right second hand CLK BS from Germany, and so we did.

Soon after finding the right vehicle (accident free, 15.5k miles, pampered, white), we realised ourselves there were some convenience and luxury options missing. We made a shopping list, Steve ordered the parts, and I broke my piggy bank (once again).

We decided I needed:
  • Proper Tire Pressure Monitoring (world exclusive to this vehicle)
  • Proper Keyless go (+entry) (world exclusive to this vehicle)
  • Parktronic (world exclusive to this vehicle)
  • Power Folding Mirrors
  • Memory Mirrors (Reversing aid) (world exclusive to this vehicle)
  • Alarm (tilt, interior motion sensor)
  • Harman Kardon Sound System (european exclusive to this vehicle)
  • Power Trunk Close/Lock (world exclusive to this vehicle)
  • iPod Kit
  • Illuminated AMG door sills
  • Alcantara headliner
  • Leather AMG Airbag

I had to wait a couple of weeks before all was done. In the meantime I turned 40. Below some pics of the resulting -unique, yet fitted with OEM options only- car. You all know how it drives, so I won't elaborate about that now.

I have managed to cut a couple hundred pounds off my BS. Carbon fiber seats saved me over 100 pounds alone, lightweight carbon fiber wheels saved me another 50+ pounds, lightweight rotors will save you another 50, there are a handfull of other areas in which weight can be trimmed as well. I've looked into the carbon euro door panels and can't get my hands on them so don't count on being able to obtain those too easily. They would also require you to disconnect and remove your side SRS bags. I have thought about having them made aftermarket, maybe if we get enough interest we can get a group buy price.

I can only agree with your comment. That's why I will buy a clk63 black it's just more hardcore specially at low speeds.

Very wise decision. It'll be the most fun you'll ever had in a Mercedes Benz (not involving women)
