Under hood temperatures are becoming a serious issue here in Australia especially with the C63.
They typically overheat, blow head gaskets, snap head bolts then the head breaks. EXPENSIVE.
The best solution is wonsuk_utmb's suggestion of a well vented hood. Another useful modification is to have a vented underside engine cover fabricated from aluminium sheet to replace the oem plastic item. Just removing the plastic cover exposes to damage not only the engine sump but the steering, radiator and oil hoses.
Also using a carbon fibre airbox and inlet tubes or ceramic coated metal airbox and inlet tubes will dramatically slow the conduction of heat from under the hood too the engine inlet air. Every elevated degree in temperature is costing you power.
