Problems with K&N's?

Renntech and two MB service managers recently told me NOT to install K&N's in my 63's due to MAF/S (which is it?) contamination. Although I've never had a problem (check engine light) that can be traced to K&N filters I was wondering if any 63 owners have?

I remember from my E39 M5 days that certain owners ran into issues with oiling of the MAFs causing fault codes, etc. This due to excessive oil by the owners. Regardless the repair, (replacement of the MAF?), was not covered under warranty. For this reason alone I won't use the K&N type filter. Hell, the OEM filter is so cheap just replace them when they get even a little dirty.

Put K&N's on my Brabus 5.8 (my last MBZ) & they ruined the Mass Air Sensor. MBZ dlr said K&N's come overoiled when new. I'll never use them again. No engine light came on but the mileage dropped approx 20%. Also Kleeman said they've dyno'd K&N's vs Stock w/ zero HP increase noted.
