Fair price for CLK63 Black Series with 30k miles and $35k in mods?

Fair price for CLK63 Black Series with 30k miles and $35k in mods?
This past weekend I drove north about 120 miles to check into a CLK63 Black Series that I am interested in. The part that I am stuck on is how to value it. The car has almost 30,000 miles and about $35,000 in modifications ($10,000 of that is wheels alone....which I care less about), and $5,100 was for a steering wheel, so don't really care there either. From the list there are only about $15,000 out of that $35,000 that are performance parts and not just showoff parts. There are cars on the market now with between 8,000 miles and 20,000 miles that are in the $65,000 to $72,000 and this car is at almost $90,000. There are a lot of Evosport parts, but I have had some dealer friends advise me that those parts don't mean a whole lot when they value a car that they are taking in on trade, or buying wholesale, so I am a bit stuck. So, since most of us are the real people in the market and not dealers, what do you guys and gals think? I drove the car and loved the additional bark, but hated the ride with the gigantic aftermarket wheels and all but invisible tires (it made me physically motion sick, which I never got when driving a stock one). Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Couple of perspectives. First, like many on this forum, I've purchased, modded and sold several high-end performance cars. While the mods I've done haven't been extreme, I did them for solely myself and expected to recoup little, or none, of that cost...I hoped that the mods I made would provide an extra incentive to some buyers and I always sold my cars quickly at/below book value. As for this car, this guy has clearly factored in almost the entire value of the modifications he's made into the price of the car and in doing so, has reduced his potential market by about 99.99%. So I'd say, what is the value of the mods to you...sounds like not much? I'm guessing for most, including myself, the car is worth between $63K-$65K and if this guy is asking close to $90K, he's either smoking some really good weed, or really doesn't want to sell his car. Just finished a six month search and purchased mine about 2 weeks ago...black, 5.7K, full maintenance records, new rubber, no track time and NO MODS for $71K. I'd pass on this one and be patient...you'll find the right car at the right price.

Unless it's modded exactly as you would have done, there's no reason to purchase that specific vehicle. Yeah, there's only 300 or so of these in the states but there's enough inventory out there in every color to be selective. No reason to settle. Current owner should be amenable to removing the bolt on parts (can't get more "bolt on" than a steering wheel and rims), putting back OEM parts and lowering the price accordingly, w/remaining mods discounted.
Or not and you walk.
FWIW, a dealer would want it brought it stock on a trade in and would ding the owner on trade in value for not doing so. Price to be paid for individuality.

Mods are usually valued at 1/2 on the used car market, and that's on the purchase price of the mods (not MSRP). Typically, the high end wheels that list as $10k sell for about half that. I would guess that the $35k price of mods really is closer to $20k worth, so I wouldn't pay more than $10k over a similar mileage stock vehicle.

A list of mods and which tuner did the mods might help us but as a couple people have already stated mods are general worth half or less on the resale market. Unless the mods are exactly what you are looking for I would not pay a premium for them if I were you. I have spent ungodly amounts on mods and would never expect to recoup even a fraction of what I had invested if I were to part with any of my cars.

Thanks guys! Good to see that I am not crazy for thinking this guy was very high on his price (and possibly something else...LOL).
The parts list as I remember it was as follows:
Evosport headers
Evosport ECU
Evosport X-pipe and hi-flow cats
Evosport pulleys
Strasse Forged wheels and tires (don't remember tire brand)
Carbon fiber steering wheel
Carbon fiber shift paddles
Carbon fiber interior accent pieces
That is the bulk of what I recall. I may have missed an item or two, but if I did they were not major.
I like the fact that the car is white, but am not in love with the parts (or the idea of getting upside down on a car's value immediately) to pay anywhere near what he wants. Something inside of me just likes knowing if the sh*t hit the fan for some reason and I had to sell the car quickly, that I would not be massively upside down on the value of the car. It is the financially responsible side of my brain kicking in I guess.
What I am thinking is shooting him an offer of $67k and if he takes it I can sell off the wheels and other items I don't want to get the invested value where it should be.

AW color is hard to come by in low mileage & unmolested, glad to pick mine up earlier this year, half the mileage of this one you talked about, and all it had for mods were suede steering wheel (previous owner claimed they're euro factory-spec but I doubt it), tint windows (if that's a mod at all), and clear bra on the fender archs (needs to be re-done).

Not sure if you're looking for a particular color, but here's a find in FL not listed on any of the typical "for sale" sites. Not sure of price, but it appears to be an unmolested car with 1,168 mi
