Weistec rear bushing upgrade incredible results!
After having driven a few CLKBS's I always felt like the rear of the car was overly loose and actually had almost a swap to them under full throttle. I did not buy these car because of it. Then I found a very lightly driven low mile one that wasn't too bad but still had a little swap, so I bought it immediately. It had 8XXX miles on it then but by 9500 miles you couldn't even keep the car between the lines under full throttle (and full traction). So I gave Weistec a call and they told me their rear suspension and differential bushing upgrade will completely fix the problem and even make it feel more solid than new. WOW, is all I can say. All handling woes fixed and the car now feels like it should, solid and way more predictable. This upgrade should not be optional for a CLKBS it should be a bulletin to all dealers to require this upgrade on all CLKBS's that are resold by them that don't already have them installed. The OEM bushings just cant handle what the BS can give them and its unacceptable for ANY performance car to have the rear bushings degrade that quickly, its just not safe. A huge Thank You to Weistec for fixing the BS!

The cost is $799 for the rear bushings and $149.95 for the differential bushing upgrade, per WT website. Installation is estimated at 8 hours. I hear it takes quite awhile to do. This will be my next mod.

The HG Motorsports Weekend Warrior did a review on the Weistec Derlin Bushing upgrade a few months ago. With 24 rubber factory bushings just add up the movement and rebound you get and you can understand why it is needed. The solid differential mounts also help. To get the rear end to behave a 100% locking differential is also necessary. Renntech has a 100% locking diff. upgrade and Quaife makes one. Adjustable rear control arms allowing you to dial in negative camber also improves straight line performance and cornering.
Once you do these low cost upgrades you will not believe how well the car responds.
Adjustable control arms should be available in Jan. through H&G Motorsports.
Good tires and that should complete the package for the CLK Black.
The car becomes very neutral and can handle the power of the hi torque engine.
Much more fun to drive near the limits, very rewarding to the driver.
The Weekend Warrior really sticks and pulls some terrific G's in the corners. Rock solid giving confidence, not fear. After all what good is all that power and speed if you can't use it.

I just did this mod as well. I have Eurocharged V4 which makes the car squirm and sway a bit under WOT. No more! The bushings are very good. Stiff, but no added NVH. The install cost about the same as the bushings themselves, but it's well worth it.

I also did the diff bushings, control arm bushings, wavetrac Diff and installed new Mich Pilot SS and all I can say is it's a new car. The car was boarder line undrivable beforehand, now with even more power and going from Stage 1+ SC to a stage 3+ It's perfect and manageable.
