about wheel well ventilation

Just to build out the wheel well vent thought a bit more precisely. I see above where cooperdb pointed out the feature in his very comprehensive description of the car's features. Matching that description up to the front side and rear view pics is interesting. It would seem, and please correct this as I am just surmising here, that air enters the front wheel arches through a scoop mounted behind the front grill roughly where fog lights would be. The air then would channel past the front wheels and out through the vents at the back of the front wheel arches. Is that correct? Then air would be caught by the scoops at the front of the rear wheel arches, channel past the rear wheels and exit where as there doesn't appear to be an exhaust vent at the back of the rear wheel arches? Again I'm probably missing something and would appreciate including some discussion of this point. Thanks.

btw

Thanks for posting shots of the cab. Breathtaking, it looks like what it is, a younger, faster version of my 55 cab, or what mine could be if I did $300k worth of interior, exterior and mechanical mods, lol.

man, if you guys ever make your way to SoCal, the owner of a MB dealership here has one of each color AND for both coupe/cab, and usually there are at least one or two on display, including the P900 version of this car.

None of these cars were brought to Australia by MB. There is one here that I know of and have seen in person and it was brought over from South Africa after an extensive period of dealing with the government here to allow its importation and registration. Seeing this car in person has been a highlight of my hobby of being an AMG enthusiast, it's magnificent in person. It is so rare that when the owner took it to the dealership for check up the dumb techs there did not even know what it was, unbelievable. I looked at importing one myself from Singapore but the import costs and red tape was unbelievable so I bought a CLK black series instead. I was offered the DTM to buy but at this's tage in life I can't justify it. 3 years ago it would have been a dream come true

Wow! Were any of these ever imported to the USA? It just goes to show you that I thought I knew AMG models pretty well, even been through the engine works and design studio in Affalterbach. You learn something new everyday. Thanks for posting.

Your thoughts on the DTM's wheel well fender vents

are about the same as what I was told by a

MB AMG race team management member

This was an attempt to improve tracking via

"Controlled Air Displacement"

Do you remember when wind splits for your car's

hood were available from Zender as well as other

German bodykit companies

A footnote to this conversation would be that the

German who shared this info was very much enjoying

the free drinks in first class

It does make sense to me but I got the impression

that he was quickly reaching his invibed limit

There is so much more to learn about these models

ie. where are they located now

Here's to the hope that those who know more will

share their knowledge in this forum (CLK BS)

Thank-You

You may be giving me to much credit

I am sharing what I was told was an

answer to my question but without

the hard copy that presents the concept

Other people on other subjects have told

me a truth which turned out at best to

be highly distorted - at worst...

And while he did have a briefcase which

contained his MB AMG i.d. card on an AMG

lanyard (he opened it - I looked) - he was

downing drinks at the standard S65 AMG

rate prior to an induced slumber for the

last half of the flight

Every aspect of the DTM was presented

on paper as a document to support the

design / concept of the DTM

If these documents have been posted to

the internet I have yet to locate them

But because of all the forum members like

yourself the search continues

Thank-You

D.B.

There was a guy in LA that had TWO and cab and a coupe. If I remember correctly one was Black and the other silver. very nice guy would bring them to the Calabasas Super Car Sunday. That was right by my house, this was 6+ years ago.

Was he old? pretty sure the only person that has more than one is the owner of MBLN, and he's got more than just those two, he has both colors available in both coupe and cab, on top of that, an orange P900.
