I want a clk63
Currently have:
-w202 c43 amg
-w203 c55 amg
Whats a good price for a clk63 BS nowadays with under 50k?
I figured if I sell both my cars(~$20k) and come up with another 5-10k. I can pay off half the car right away as a down payment right?
Can you even get anything decent for around 50?

PJmak.......
I made a $51,000 offer on a Mars Red on Black '08 MB CLK63 AMG BS with 51k miles last November subject to a PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) at Portland MB (downtown). I sent him a refundable deposit to confirm our "deal". I flew up and stayed at my sister's (Lake Oswego) and on Monday, Nov. 19, the shop foreman and I inspected everything on, in and under the car (lift hoist) for almost 2 hours. The owner listed the car on Autotrader at $59,995 and the car's pictures looked really good.
However, the car immediately needed the following:
Another issue is the camshafts and "bucket" lifters whereas the camshafts (4) are a softer steel than the "bucket lifters and, consequently, the camshaft lobes wear much quicker and could result in timing issues as well as valve performance inefficiencies. As I understand my MB shop foreman, the 4 cams and lifter buckets are sold as a matched kit at $4,000 excluding labor.
All in all, I would've purchased the car ~ not at $51,000 ~ but at $35,000 and spend another $30,000 to $35,000 for all of the issues outlined including repainting the entire vehicle!
Needless to say, when I confronted the seller we discussed the PPI report and I let my head overrule my heart and passed on the deal (got my deposit check back). The next day, the seller consigned the car with Freeman Motors at $59,000 and the car finally sold the week before last for $53,995 with only the windshield replaced. Hopefully, that buyer did the appropriate amount of due diligence prior to purchase~
The car fax report also showed another PPI was performed by the "sister" MB dealership (also owned by Portland store) in Beaverton, Oregon, in March 2018 for an back-east potential buyer, too. I was aware of that report but the Beaverton Service Advisor wouldn't be specific although he stated the car needed at least $15,000+ in repairs, too, and the "back-east" buyer was irritated due to the seller's misrepresentation of the car's condition and declined to buy it!
As of today, I'm still looking! There were only 10 Mars Red CLK63 AMG BS imported into US in 2007 and 2008 of the 367 total imported! The rest are either Black, White of Silver!.................One down.......nine to go! lol
Good luck......

However, the car immediately needed the following:
- New windshield (large crack at passenger's side) at $1,700
- 4 new tires which right front showed steel belt visible ($2,041). Since it was Thanksgiving week, couldn't get tires until the following week! Seller offered to pay for tires! Right front wheel bent on inside race ($3,500).
- 4-wheel alignment ($175)
- All four rotors were below minimum tolerance and needed pads, too ($3,400).
- Front shocks oil seep ($1,307).
- Right rear CV axel (boot torn/leaking ($1,627).
- Replace front bumper due to 2012 accident which was incorrectly installed and poor paint quality finish ($2,385).
- Replace rear carbon fiber diffuser (cracked and beyond repair) $1,607.
- Peeling paint and clear coat on front and rear bumper and entire right side up to roof line (no estimate).
- Reseal sub oil pan gasket (engine oil seep) $2,580.

Yikes that car needed a lot of work. Crazy it still sold for that much.
Im ok with one needing maintenance but Id like to avoid any kind of body work or paint issues.
Are you specifically looking for red??
Thanks for sharing the story and info btw, it gives me a lot better idea on what to expect and the common problems to look for.

Take the time to browse this sub-forum -
There are several threads concerning a BS
for sale at a less than shady auto dealership -
ie... Bob's Euro Imports... where the forum member
inquiring about the car is flat out lied to -
This sub-forum is your source of information -
Thank-You

I remember the Top Gear Argentina trip episode. One of the three cars they had was a red Lotus Esprit(looked like a newer model)
I couldn't get enough of it.
I know its not the most reliable car but its damn beautiful.
By the way Im all for red too but the damn mercedes red always has clear coat issues for some reason.
