WTB: KMH speedometer part number or euro spec VIN number
I live in Taiwan and my CLKBS was came from the United States about 6 years ago.
She is so wonderful to me except the MPH speedometer, while in Taiwan we use KMH.
I tried for years to locate a KMH CLK63 speedometer but all efforts were in vain.
Therefore, I thought that the only way might be buying a whole new one from the dealer, however local Mercedes dealer in Taiwan can only order parts according to my VIN,
so they can only order another MPH speedometer for me.
Therefore I'd like to ask: does anyone on the forum has the part number of KMH speedometer for CLKBS, or even for a normal CLK63?
If not, can anyone give me a VIN number from a car with a KMH speedometer? If I have that information then I may be able to find the right part number.
I did found a euro-spec CLKBS VIN on the internet but unfortunately it was from the UK, I'm afraid it ran with a MPH speedometer.
Thank you for reading this and any suggestion will be appreciated!
I'll share the KMH speedometer part number once I got it.
Just an FYI as it might save you some money sourcing regular CLK63 one.
Just swap over the carbon bezel from yours and that it!
If you need Part number or VIN PM me.
After some further search according to the VIN I got, I had concluded:
KMH instrument cluster for CLK63BS: A2095401348
MPH instrument cluster for CLK63BS: A2095401448
MPH instrument cluster for CLK63BS California version/US version: A2095401548
BTW, so far as I know, the BS and regular CLK63 instrument cluster also has some minor difference in their programming,
The BS doesn't have the mirror fold function, convenient seat auto adjust function and right mirror auto adjust during reverse gear, something like that.
If we put a regular CLK63 instrument cluster onto a BS, I believe it would work with no error code but only these functions won't work.
BUT these functions are not available on BS anyway.
And id say these functions arent handled by the cluster anyway. They would be Rear SAM, or Door SAM or similar.
As you said I could simply swap the carbon bezel and they looked the same,
however sadly I never found one.

There is an E63 here in Australia with a cluster available.
Do some research if this may be of use to you, happy to help if i can with getting it.

I once thought the same way, therefore I'd brought a w211 E63 KMH instrument cluster years ago and tried to fit it onto my CLKBS.
First of all, they are hardware incompatible.
Most of their components are the same, except one of the circuit boards.
There are 3 layers of circuit boards in a instrument cluster, and the one on the back side is different.
If I simply put the E63 instrument cluster on my car, many error codes will pop up because there are many sub-systems which w211 have don't even exist on the w209,
therefore the checklist of the instrument cluster are also different.
The only way to use the E63 instrument cluster is to swap the circuit board which was different, then I'll have a KMH instrument cluster, however in doing so, another problem will pop up.
The movement of speedometer indicator was programmed in the very circuit board we swapped. So although we have a KMH instrument cluster, but the indicator isn't accurate because the speed marks on MPH and KMH speedometers aren't at the same corresponding position.
That's the very situation I was trapped in. I also tried to copy the E63 program onto the CLK circuit board. The speedometer became accurate however other problems popped up, including rev-meter malfunction and some alarm message won't pop up. It must be due to incompatibility due to the hardware and software.
The only way to use my current gear is to find a W209 CLK63(BS) and copy its instrument cluster program into my instrument cluster. However finding a KMH CLK63 is next to impossible in Taiwan, that's why I gave up and tried to buy a new KMH instrument cluster.
wow you have really gone to a lot of trouble
only thing then is to just keep an eye out on eBay or wreckers
the other tough thing is majority of these cars went to USA (MPH)
Best of luck
if anything I see pops up here in Australia, will post it up here.
