This car was one car in front of the Black Series at the auction. It belonged to a good friend of mine. He said the auction was a disaster for him. The estimate was $120,000-$140,000. The car was concourse ready and winner at Amelia twice before.

He may have received a "bad appraisal" on his car which, more than likely, incentivized his decision to auction the car with Sotheby's @ Amelia. I think this may happen far too often. And what really hurts is the auction house always encourages a "no reserve" sale that can lead to a seller getting screwed with a low-ball sale.
