Are wheel spacers safe

I kept a set of 19" amg rims from my E class that i recently sold and intended to mount all season tires on the rims for my cls. However I called the vendor and asked if they would fit the cls and he said the front calibers will likely hit the wheel. He advised against wheel spacers, but im unsure as to why he advised against them. Are there any issues with spacers i should be aware of that my compromise safety and the overall ride? I understand that i would need to purchase spacers specific for the cls and not universals. Can anyone comment on this? I would hate to sell these wheels. I spent 4k on them last summer and recently had them repaired from curb rash.

You should also think about getting longer studs if you do decide to get spacers depending on how big they are. That's normally the main concern not enough bite on the wheel studs.

Wheel spacers when done right, are totally safe. I have run them on a number of cars thru the years with no issues at all. I have them on my CLS550 now. Having said that, they have always been H&R trakplus http://www.trakplus.com/

If H&R sells them... they're safe! Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

I know it might be a bit out of your way from OC, but you can see Dave at http://www.wheelenhancement.com/index.php?t=Wheels. Great guy! He ordered mine and installed them too.

S550 4-matic
OEM wheels spacers

Hello I bought a 2014 CLS 550 4matic and looking to add spacers. The rims are stock 19" all away around. Would 10mm spacers in front and 12mm in rear keep the wheel flush with fenders?

Measure from your tire to the edge of the fender, that will give you a good idea of what you need.
