2014 CLS550 on order - specs?

Dealer seems to think no changes - nice guy but not real knowledgeable when it comes to details about options. Had to explain distronic to him. I ordered it because I suspect there won't be many changes but does anyone know for sure?

Yes. Saw some material that says forward collision warning will be standard and something about media and entertainment connection cable formerly in P1 now being standard. Do you have base MSRP pricing for 2014 ?

Same dealer said MSRP for 2014 will be "less than 1% increase." I got it in writing. Pretty safe bet he's about right.

Where did you find the info on forward collision warning?

BTW, I see in your sig you drive an SC430. That's what I'm replacing with the CLS550. Great car if a little underpowered. It's only got 65000 miles on it, looks great, but it is ten years old. Good bye old friend, you served me well...

Saw the changes to 2014 CLS 550 on a salesman's screen as he was scrolling through an update MBUSA sent him. BTW the 63s will be 4matic in 2014.

I thought order books were not yet open for the 2014 CLS?

The old SC is a great daily driver. Mine's a 2005 with 57k miles. I'm keeping it but might add a CLS550 when order books open.

Your SC will trade well if you sell private party. Lots of people are searching for well looked after SCs.

Which options did you order for the CLS? Did the sales guy tell you if the P1 package was going down a bit in price because of the change in media/ent ? Any color on other option pricing?

[QUOTE=OBP;5500057] BTW the 63s will be 4matic in 2014.[QUOTE]

That is great news! The lack of 4matic has been keeping me from buying AMG sedans or coupes for years and M's as well. I am sure BMW will follow suit w/ the M series, if they haven't already. I'm not that much up on them anymore.
However, I can't say I am in need of more performance that my 5504 already has, it's a monster and in all sport modes top performer all around!

I doubt the order guide is out for the 2014 since production usually does not start until June for the new models. That means the dealer can't submit an order until about April.

I was speaking with the service rep about the Renntech ECU tune - he said he had heard most of the higher horsepower MB's were going to at least offer 4Matic - car performs better. He also said the Renntech tune doesn't come with a voucher for new tires... I asked about warranty issues and he stated the dealership wouldn't know if the ECU was changed unless they had a reason to check it and so far there hasn't been a "check engine light" that wound up being caused by the ECU tune. I specifically asked about fuel pump adequacy, intercooler capacity, transmission durability. He stated all were more than adequate for a stage 1 tune.

I hold in my hand a purchase order for a 2014 CLS550C4 dated 22 Dec 2012. Options - P1 (duh), Wheel Package Plus One, 4Matic, Distronic Plus, Parktronic, Multicontour Driver Seat, Wood/leather steering wheel, rear deck spoiler, illuminated door sills. Originally I told the salesman I didn't need Parktronic, I know how to parallel park my car. He countered with a demonstration where he backed up to a wall and stopped when he saw two reds lights on the indicator over the rear window. He said "the bumper is 6 inches from the wall. Go look." He was right and I added it.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed I was out of washer fluid. Refilled the reservoir and discovered a huge puddle in the garage. Hose came off the headlight washer. Need to drop the front bumper cover to fix it. Joy.

Nothing other than the "1%" comment. He said delivery likely in late May/early Jun. Gonna be a long six months...

Saw your reply after I submitted mine. Dealer said "drop dead date" for changes to car was late Feb. Also the Jun delivery quote. Are you saying the salesman has a few more things to learn?

June delivery sounds right cos the 2014 launch for the CLS is supposedly May 2013.

Having a bill of sale from a dealer is not an accepted order from the factory. The dealer can write you a bill of sale for a 2015 but it won't be built until the factory starts production on that model.

I have made early orders on many of my cars and production normally doesn't start until June. If you are lucky you will get a second decade build, which means completion around the 20th of June. Allow six weeks for an eastern port drop plus transit time to your dealership.

At the earliest, expect to see your car at the end of July.

Whatever time it takes, it's worth the wait. You will love the car.

I stand corrected and a little saddened. Mid July? RATS! I just hope there aren't any other Mayan or similar calendar countdowns in the meantime.

Europe and North America don't run on the same calendar. My CLS has black piano wood trim and the AMG package. If those options are available in the US, you should consider them. The AMG pack will give you the exterior sport stuff plus inside you get the sport steering wheel and bright pedals.

Just little details that make the car a little nicer.

PS The parktronic with assist is a great option. You will love it. The icing on the cake is the power from the 4.6L V8 and the exhaust note. I almost forgot, It's the best looking sedan MB builds.

In the US, the sport steering wheel comes with the wheel package and bright pedals are standard.

Also, as I have this package, the seats are the AMG style w/ white stitching on my black leather.

That is what is in my car. Everything, including the AMG wheels all came with the AMG pack which is standard equipment.

Well, I have a PO now and the sales manager said I have a shot at getting the car the end of April, almost certainly by second week of May. He sounded pretty confident...

Keep us posted ! Good luck ! That might be around the time I put in my order if I go ahead with it.

Kind of makes sense that the first MY 2014 CLS550s get to our shores by May cos that is when I heard from MBUSA that they will launch the 2014 CLS550.

Dunno if this matters to you or not but I also heard that the 2014s will get guidelines in the reverse camera, unlike the 2013/12s.

Looks like your dealer info on estimated arrival in the US is right. I just heard production in Germany was starting for the 2014s in March. A dealer i spoke to said they got a 2014 allocation already for a March build.

I went to dealer last week and he pulled the production schedule and you can order a 2014CLS that will be built starting in March.
They believe the AMG will be ready to order in March with production in June.

The US needs a CLS350. With a V8 only option - this is always going to be a niche car for Mercedes in the US market because of the price premium it carries. That's the main change they should have made for 2014.
