2012-2013 CLS550 Window Tint - Diamond White
So the dealer called and said my 2013 CLS550 Diamond White 4matic is built and sitting in Germany waiting for a ride on a boat to be delivered to me.
Dealer going to have windows tinted for me for delivery. I am really torn on how dark to go. My previous car (Lexus LS460L) was done in 20 all around, except windshield, it looked great. However, for some reason I feel compelled to go lighter, like a 30 or 35 on this CLS550...?? I am 40 years old, not 22 and I am not followed around by paparazzi...so not sure how dark to go and still have a "head turner" of a car but not too dark......Opinions / help appreciated....

Perhaps you might consider the 3M Crystaline tint (or similar from other companies)... you can go with a lighter tint percent, but it still works as well as 'older tech' dark tint. I've been exploring it, but the expense is at least double. Maybe some users can share their experiences...

Hk -- I ended up going with 20 all around (except windshield and sunroof) - it is the absolute correct decision for me. 35 would have been way too light especially considering my light (tan) interior.

To me, it all depends on where you live.
For instance, if you live in AZ, you'd probably want darker, more reflective tint.
However, here in MI, where it's overcast most of the time, you'd probably want a lighter tint, like 35% or even 50%, depending on how much "privacy" you want.
You also have to remember that the more windows you tint, the less light there is inside the car overall, so 20% may actually look even darker.
On a coupe I had a while back, I had 5% on the back window, 20% on the quarter windows, and 35% on the doors. Even with the 35% on the doors, I still got stopped a lot.
I'm probably going to go with either 35% all around or maybe 50%. Or maybe 35% on the back window and back doors, and 50% on the front doors. The cops here really don't have much to do so they look for reasons to stop you. Trying to give them as little of a reason as possible.

Wish I could just go 20% all around ..

Would not do different percentages on different windows (front versus rear, etc.).....it looks really unclassy. Do one percentage all the way around.

That's ridiculous.....I understand if it were the windshield not being allowed.....but stupid that they don't allow just the front side windows. I guess I'm use to seeing all the stars' cars in Cali all ridiculously dark tinted all the way around.
Does Cali offer an exception if you need the tint for "eye problem" reasons? Might want to think about that.....

I'm not sure about exemptions for medical reasons to allow one to tint the fronts but I have thought of that as I have " severe eye and skin " disorders

That's not to say that I haven't seen tons of cars here with limo tint all around..
