This poor guy posted mid June, and has not had one single reply to his problem.
Just saying.

Hey Pete...
By your sig, I see that you have both a '13 CLS, and a '13 E Class... I will be trading my '07 Carrera soon, and am looking seriously at the CLS550, but the E draws my attention too. Would you mind giving a quick personal comparison on your opinion of the two?

As far as the CLS is concerned, it is one of the nicest cars I have owned. Great power, smooth ride and with the multi function seat, very comfortable. If you put it in sport mode the car changes character and stiffens up, holds the gears longer and tries to become a GT.
In the end you are paying an extra 10K for a better looking shell.
If you are looking at an E350 W212, the cars are altogether different. The E350 is more like the Buick class. Nice to drive, good power, economical, very comfortable. The best part is that it's well priced and good value for the money.

The E class is a coupe W207. However if you are comparing an E550 (W212) with air suspension to a CLS 550 I would think both cars would be very similar. The interior will be different but both cars are built on the same platform.

My C350 Sport had the same engine as the E350, in a smaller chassis. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to want the bigger engine in the W218, and I like the exterior styling much better as well.

If you ask me, board participation has nothing to do with price. Go to 911 forums, BMW forums, etc., you'll see very active participation on triple digit cars. S Class forums get decent participation, etc.
IMO it comes down to whether or not a car evokes "participation" passion from people. Mercedes' in general don't have as passionate boards because that's simply the clientele, but within the Mercedes family you'll have certain models taking up most of the discussion, then others put on the backburner.
