Why are there no posts here?

If it wasn't for advertisers, there would be no purpose for the CLS forum.

It begs the question, is it because the car is so prefect, no one has any complaints or is it because so few CLS are sold and we have no participants? Too bad, it's one MB's nicest cars.

agreed petee, maybe everyone is just too busy working to pay for them to spend time on the forums and talk about side markers, wheels and whether or not the car will be dropped
just kidding around haha

seems to be as bad as the AMG section of 6speed haha

agreed, not so many sold as the mainstream MB. You would think though, world wide there would be more input. Its a shame that the adverts out number the posts. I will look to put a review on of mine as its 9 months old now and 14000 miles and although I really like the car I am having some issues.

The CLS is really an oddball car. You love it or hate it.

I love the car and my wife tells me that you have to hate your money to spend that much money for such an ugly car. Go figure, it's not for everyone. I guess that's what niche market cars are all about.

I am curious to know if your cars are more expensive in the UK than in Canada. The retail price here is approximately $8,000.00 more than the US.

Excluding the engine my car is similarly equipped to yours and retailed for $93,640.00 plus dealer prep and freight. That adds an extra $$2,200.00. Of course we have a sales tax of 13%(VAT) on top of that. If we trade in a car, we only pay the tax on the difference.

No one pays retail. Discounts on the CLS can run up to 10K on a good day.

First time I've heard that one!

I love the CLS. Had a W219 CLS55 (see sig) and after that also got the W218 CLS550 launch edition (too impatient to wait for the AMG). I think it's perhaps the best looking MB model.

It's an $85-90k model that is still in the 60s used.

Most people can't afford it.....

It's not like a C-class where you can put down $400/month and be in one.

In another couple years as the used prices come down and people can afford them, I am sure the board will be more lively.

The number of advertiser posts is definitely a joke on this site....

I agree with you guys,i am very active on E COUPE forum but everyday i look on the CLS forum and have few topics to talk about.I think the main reason is that there not to much owners who wants to modify their CLS.I wanted to sell my E coupe and change it with a CLS but i decided to make the change to E coupe 2014 model.Anyway guys, congrats for your beautiful CLS cars.

Well, I have never heard anyone call the CLS an ugly car. I think its biggest selling point is its style. Definately one of the best looking cars they make currently. I really like the exterior of the E coupe too but I found it not as practical.

No CLS550 here or 4matic. The 2 wheel drive CLS500 here is about $95000 including 20% tax but before discount. They are giving about $16000 discount currently. The AMG version is about $125000. I have never seen such high discounts before, they must be after market share.

I really dislike the adverts and the links to dodgy websites on this site.

That would make the CLS cheaper in the UK than in the US. Good for you.

CLS style is a love / hate thing similar to the newer W212 styling. I didn't like the CLS for sometime but now find that it has grown on me. The Design arc' are awesome and really did how streamlined the overall car is. I am in a W212 550 now and find myself looking at every C218 coming down the road with envy....some look better than others but they all look good. I'm in SoCal, so I probably see 5-10 per day...and 15-20 of the W212's...,but few 550's. I think Hype has it figured out....own both. Unfortunately the my wife isn't as supportive as his.

Separate note - what are real world prices for the 2013's?

An optioned up C63 costs as much as a CLS550, so price isn't the issue, as the C63 forum is one of the most active here. It's the fact that the average age of the CLS550 owner is pretty old, people that don't really know how to use the internet well, let alone a forum lol.

Not going to lie, it feels like I'm driving my dad's car when I'm in my CLS, and I'm almost 40 haha.

I'm not sure what you consider "pretty old" but the CLS has a far younger demographic than, say, the S-Class. I'd even hedge the average CLS owner to be younger than the average E-Class owner.

The C63 is a popular tuner car with a larger audience than the CLS. The CLS just isn't as much as a tuner car. And since a large portion of the C63 discussions are about modifications, the CLS forum falls behind since there isn't the equivalent modding breadth for the CLS.

Pissing match about whether the C63 or CLS is cheaper, I had a C63 and loved it, but quickly got sick of the god awful interior (MY 2009).

Not a W218, since that is the forum section we are discussing here.

C63 is like an M3 in my mind....definitely targeted towards younger demographic. Nothing wrong with that, at all.

You are simply asking why the board is slow.....it's because not a lot of people are putting out $85k for a car.....nor $65k for a used one.

People ARE putting out $40k for used cars.....hence the reason the S-class forum is so lively, too.....because they are $30-40k used.

2014 Mercedes CLS 2012 ML350
2013 CLS

HI,
The other half acquired her loaded up CLS550 in December. I think it is an absolutely awesome vehicle ( I drive a 2012 ML350 ) , however, she is not at all comfortable in the car. As a result we've ordered a 2014 E550 for her.

I really believe the CLS satisfies those of us who crave the Mercedes luxury and the thrill of sport ( former Vette owner ). Wish I could convince her to keep it but not to be !!

Anybody know where I can find what a reasonable trade-in value would be for a CLS wit 7K miles ??

Depends on Model Year, Options and Location. Noticed your avatar shows 2014 CLS but assume it either a 13 or 12 if you got in December. Where are you located and what options did you load up on?

Hey Pete...

By your sig, I see that you have both a '13 CLS, and a '13 E Class... I will be trading my '07 Carrera soon, and am looking seriously at the CLS550, but the E draws my attention too. Would you mind giving a quick personal comparison on your opinion of the two?

Hey... thanks. I've been looking at the C63's, but don't know if I want my mileage to be that bad. I've got a heavy foot, and I'm already only getting about 13 around town in my 911. I was actually looking at the CLA45 AMG initially, but then read that it's not any bigger than a Jetta. I'm 6'4", and am ready to slide into something a bit more comfy. I had a C350 Sport that I traded for the 911, and that Merc was one of the best cars I've owned... so there's no question that I want to return to MB.

In retrospect, I guess I really should have introduced myself first. I just realized that this is only my second post. Thanks for the welcome message by the way. I believe that you are a member on the Rennlist forum as well, right?

Anyway, I'll go and properly introduce myself in the appropriate thread, so as not to hijack this one further.

Pete... this may give you an idea why:

https://mbworld.org/forums/cls-coupe...dow-issue.html

This poor guy posted mid June, and has not had one single reply to his problem.

Just saying.
