CLS550 w/Mercedes LED Star
We did add a remote controlled LED control box (on/off/dimmer) and wired it to the side amber repeaters.
The stars lighting is very passive and looks terrific IMO. It is shown at its brightest in the photos. With the dimmer I can temper it even further.
Of course to each his own, but I'm loving it!
I also got the RENNtech upgrade done today! The car runs smooth and scary fast!
Next step is to install the full leather AMG steering wheel which is on its way from Germany.

I bought the LED on Ebay for $390. The install was $220. A Mercedes dealer would charge about double that for both....and they would only wire it according to MB specs. Meaning you would not have the option of having the star turned on while driving. The Oracle wireless remote control I also purchased on Ebay.
The star kit comes with a wiring harness with wires of different lengths, one of which clips into a shorter wire run that comes out from the star housing. Since we had no intention of doing a traditional setup which requires running the wiring to the back of the car, we snapped the harness and star together and cut the wiring at the other end. This leaves you with ample wiring to reach your power sources up front. All other harness wiring was discarded.
The remote box was placed above the tire well, on the passenger side. Unless the vehicle is in a flood, the box is in a safe location. We tapped into the amber side repeaters/blinkers for power. The star is only powered when the amber lights are turned on either using 'auto' or manually.
Hope that helped.

Small world! I was visiting my son & his family. Was that you ahead of me heading south on Coral Ridge Drive?
Or did we cross paths at the 'stop' sign after the guard shack? I saw 2 sweet 63's that day in Heron Ridge.
