Experience with brakes
Hey Campers ... I just took my 2014 CLS550 in to check out a vibration when braking at high speeds ... Not felt at low speeds, just 60-70mph plus. I'm told the rotors are warped and I need pads to the tune of $1,100 or so. Car is 17 months old with just over 17,000 miles. I am really bummed, since my Escalade went 90,000 miles with no brake job. Has anyone had a similar experience? This seems ridiculous that a car costing $90,000 should need a brake job so soon and not be covered by warranty. Btw ... I drive my car aggressively but I don't think I'm crazy in how I drive a car that is build for the Autobahn!

17k miles is not many miles to have warped OEM rotors. I would think these problems could start surfacing at 30k miles or more. Most of the time though, brake pads and rotors are not covered by warranty unless something really ridiculous happens like warpage in 2-3K miles. Feel bad for you and I hope this does not happen to me.

MBUSA initial factory warranty covers brake discs/pads for 1 year/12,000 miles whichever comes first. OP check your PM.

2014 CLS550 4Matic
Unfortunately its a problem with those style brakes (also on '13, '14 E550 cab/coupe). I had the same thing happen to my '14 CLS550 at 8000 miles. It was subtle but the warping/vibration was there. As my car was just a short term lease I just turned the car in so I don't have any resolution information for you. I would definitely talk to your dealer and MBUSA customer service and let them know how unhappy you are with warped rotors at 17k miles.

Vibration when feathering the brakes at highway speeds
I have a 2014 E550 with the same problem. It is especially bad when Distronic is applying the brakes on the highway over long trips. It gets worse and worse until it feels positively dangerous!
The MB dealership couldn't figure this out after several attempts. In the end I told them to replace the rotors and pads. That fixed the problem for ~6 weeks then it came back.
I took the car to another mechanic and he thinks he's figured it out. Control Arm bushings etc and wheel bearings. Another $2000 later I'm hoping the problem is fixed. i get the car back on Friday.
The dealership told me that Mercedes changed the specs on the rotors on this model car so THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE. This sucks!

Initial factory and/or extended warranty should cover replacement for brake juddering/shuddering. Dealer and MBUSA may initially deny replacement citing you’re out of 1 year/12,000 brake warranty or brake wear is not covered however, you should argue defective parts were installed at production as documented in attached bulletin(s).
