Build the most powerful cls550 4matic
Just want to share my results before the big numbers hit the dyno. Last week we tune the car on 1.55 bar max boost pressure and we hit 604 whp on mainline dyno and 980nm on the wheels (equal to 700whp on dynojet). This Monday we will go for 2 bar and 780-800 on the mainline dyno whp
The car is making 4.9s 100-200km/h at 1.55 bar... So far so good. We check all tuned AMG that were tuned on this same mainline dyno and the result is +205 whp for the cls550 compared to tuned cls63 amg s 4matic at 6300rpm. I have installed map sensors from a45 amg (3.5 bar max boost pressure) and we will go for up to 2 bar and hit 1000+ on the engine (the tuner was able to calibrate the map sensor for med17.7.1 ecu as well as remove some limitations) The car is brutal in acceleration. I'am sure the car will hit 9s 1/4 time. Will post the dyno video as well as acceleration and v-box data after the 2 bar settings are ready. So if you think m157 is much better think twice. M278 just need some more boost and can leave any tuned amg in the dust..

The turbos spool very fast. The next step with 30psi boost is to hold the torque till redline and rise the power.

Not much time available but the car is running great (10k miles on the kit) When i'am ready and the car is tested will show the last results
I have developed new intercooler setup with new trunk ice tank and pump. The china's intercooler cores are piece of junk and went with two water to air garrett cores. So i can rise the boost now and keep 100-105f iat under full boost for long time (no ice in the tank) ... the rule pump was also replaced by EMP-E2512A 25A version which is few times more powerful and make 35gpm with 1-1/8" water lines that i have installed..
After 25k miles update i can state that the m278 engine is the best build by mercedes so far. The car is running as daily on 1.7 up to 2 bar of boost for the last 1 year and oil consumption for 7k miles is 500ml... This is one of the most powerful MB on the street running 1000+hp now and able to do 0-200km/h under 7 sec. I have made new intake and cooling system, since the last year and in 15k miles not run in single issues. The car is for sale now (only serious buyers)

Wondering how was this possible to swap out the transfer case for the AMG version?
I thought it was attached to the transmission so you need to use the transmission.

i i’ve just installed 6.3 turbos and on dyno, 1100nm, ecu close throttle, man how makes calibration, told me that it because 1100nm and we need to change software for transmission. Could You tell me what did You do with this?

To make power on this platform you have to make 1000-1100N/M at 6500rpm not 3500-4200. This is the way. So you need big turbos. With M157 turbos you have quite big torque on lower rmp then after 4500rpm they are dead. Big turbos, high boost at maximum rpm. No way to trick the gearbox tcu. With m157 turbos maximum power is 700-720hp

I'm thinking to get DPs, Stage 2, and Meth kit. I believe the power output should be around 600-620hp and close to 700tq, give or take.
@gardevski you mentioned that our 4.7L has forged pistons and other parts...stock internals should be able to withhold that much power, right?
I'm not planning to upgrade turbos and such. Too costly for me. Maybe at a later date.

Like when exactly. Would stock rods not sustain the power output between 500-600hp over longer periods of time? If you happen to know
and is it a matter of high heat or the amount of power/rpm?I will sure give these tuning companies a call and see what they have to say. But its better to get information from someone who has personal experience with them, you know.
