Parking sensor issue?

Hi guys, so my CLS is having an issue where if it stays off for like a day or two, when I start the car up the Parktronic lights up two red dots in the front and back and turns off. However if i restart the car, it all goes back to normal and all the sensors will work. Could this be a faulty sensor? And if it is, would it be covered under the CPO warranty, since my 4 year is up.

CPO should cover repair.

Not sure if this gremlin is from the same cause but there's an 'accessory'' battery that starts to go bad which can cause all manner of parking sensor issues. DAMHIK. Don't know where the battery is located but after changing multiple sensors, dash unit, etc my parking sensor problems were solved when that battery was replaced.
Good luck.

Every time I have had a Parktronic sensor go bad that is what happens. Could be a lose connection too. Diagnostic should find and isolate the culprit. Replace and good to go.

Thank god! I know the sensors aren't expensive, but the man hours to actually disassemble the bumpers and stuff would have racked up a huge bill lmao!

I was thinking along the lines of battery too, since this only happens to the car if it's been sitting in for a while. I made an appointment with the dealer for next week, so hopefully all it is, is a simple battery issue!

I tried hooking up my obd2 scanner, but no fault codes show up, Would a loose connection throw a fault code?

I have had this problem with my 2016 since day 1. Nobody has ever been able to fix it. Been to the shop many times. Just restart car when it happens...

I have had the same problem, usually when the car sits for a few days in cold temperatures. I am now trying to leave the car on a battery tender to see if things get better through the winter. In summer, I never had any such problems even though the car was not hooked up to a battery tender.

Yes!! It only happens during cold temps! In the summer the car wasn't drivin usually two weeks at a time, and no problems. But if it's off for only two days in the cold, the sensors begin to go crazy!

Mine kicked out a few codes. They did an update. Made no difference. I find it happens almost only in my garage. Sometimes after a wash or cold. I think it has an issue at startup if you're parked close to something. Never happened outside my garage...

Update: left CLS on a battery tender for a week, then started car up and no errors with Parktronic. Been quite cold here in NJ. Let's see if the trend continues through the winter. I suspect Parktronic wants the battery to be in top shape or it will throw an error.

I've had issues with my front parking sensors with everything described in this thread and originally thought to be faulty sensors. However, all of which went away after replacing main battery in under the hood.

Thanks.

I've got a different issue... All was fine, then I went through a car wash. Since then the front left sensors have been real sensitive, even go off when there's nothing in front of me. Last week it warmed up here and the issue went away... This week its real cold and its back. I have no codes and the lights do NOT light up red when the car is stared. Anything I can do other than wait for it to get warm?

Update: I took a closer look at the sensors (just looking at the bumper) and one of them appears to be missing the small plastic spacer ring around it. Is it possible this ring could have fallen out and could it affect performance? If it can fall out then id assume a new one can snap right in. Part #0005421251
