Interior LEDs
I've upgraded all of the interior halogen lights to LEDs (
). They're non-CAN-bus which I didn't think would be a problem but the bulbs under the front seats and in the front footwells flicker when I first go out to the car. They're fine when the engine is running.
What could be causing the flickering? Could it be something with the aux battery? I've been having issues where the battery drains if I do anything in the car after it has been parked for a while and leave it without locking it so it may be part of a bigger problem (it drained overnight when I vacuumed the interior before a road trip and about a year later after fitting the interior LEDs).
Do I need to use CAN-bus LEDs throughout? I've read that you shouldn't put CAN-bus LEDs where they're not required, is that true?

Due to LEDs requiring so little power to light up.. sometimes lingering energized power lines and power leakage can trigger non-canbus LEDs. You're right in that you don't need canbus LEDs for error checking reasons in the interior, but the added resistance in canbus LEDs also helps mitigate the issues you're seeing.
