How to launch M278 RWD
I am going nuts. I got myself my childhood dream, a V8 biturbo with airmatic etc. on Manheim...
When it arrived here in Europe, I was a bit sad cause my racelogic showed a 6.2 for 0-62mph.
Ok I said, must be related to the CEL (camshaft timing).
While waiting for the relevant parts to replace the camshaft adjuster, I had tuned the monster...
AMG turbos, catless downpipes, straightpiped, separated the IC from the engine cooling system.
Remapped it. Whoo, totally different feel, really kickass. But still a 5,2sec to 62mph.
Now I have fixed the camshaft issue... but I can not get under 5 seconds.
I've got 305 Michelin PS at the rear, I tried different modes...
With ESP off I just leave 2 long marks on the road... So a LSD won't be that much of a help I guess?
Or will an LSD help with ESP on to eliminate throttling?
look at my tiremarks...
How do those RWD AMG GT or C63 make it in 4 seconds with even narrower tires?
I am a bit down, coz my phat *** BMW X5 35d I can launch anytime in 5.9 seconds lol.
I understand RWD is an issue to get off the line, but there should be a constellation of stars to get below 5 seconds.
I mean the McLaren 720 is an RWD, too and does it in 3,5 seconds.
Appreciate your input
Thx
Rod

Those M157 turbos can offer a lot more torque on low end that is needed and especially RWD the tuner needs to make that kind of tune that you are not spinning like all hell is loose.

Is your best time 0-100km/h is 5,2s? Original CLS 500 do run like under that without a tune.. Even with wheelspun the time needs to be a lot better. If you are really serious with this 0-100km/h time? Look here https://www.auto-data.net/en/mercede...g-tronic-17361
my ecu tuner is good friend of mine, and he does it for me remotely. He does not have that much experience with MB but for now I'm just experimenting.
If we will not achieve nice results, I will take it to a local tuner, who have done an M157 with 700hp already...
I was digging in star diagnosis today and found out, why I am not having my expected results... I still got an issue with the camshaft timing. It seems the pulse disc has spun on the camshaft.
So I will have it fixed hopefully next week, and then will be running with 000 errors and more potential.
In the meantime I managed to get the best launch with 5,0sec (M-Mode, ESP On, Starting with 2 pedals with just about 1000-1200rpm)
Cheers,
Rod
