Great looking CLS 550! In most states you'd get an immediate ticket for having any red lights in the front of your car. Have you been hassled yet? Me, I wouldn't want the extra attention you'll get from the red lights. Hope you can sort it out!

I'd expect to pay somewhere between 4-6K for a good job. There's a lot of bits and parts to measure/fit. Maybe even more.
I was ready to hate it, but I don't. That's a cool car man, congrats!

Took it back to the dealer today and they fitted me with a new battery. Hopefully I'll be clear of any more start issues after leaving it for a day.

Thought I found the body kit for this thing, but its not quite there. The front fender vents are pretty different. And the rear quarter panel has a seam that mine doesn't. Also seems like the rocker panels are separated as well. There is a crack between the driver side rocker panel and front quarter panel on mine so I wonder if the previous owner had the gaps filled in along with other tweaks?
Also fun coming across articles like this:

Guess this has been around a while. Is it retro now?

Yeah, thats the kit, which is why I was suprised yours looked like a different "version" although the nice black paint vent accents look a lot better.
Maybe some filler/changes.

Are the vents actual vents or just faux vents? I always chuckle when I see the latter......especially on a V6 haha!!
Any good options for android auto or an aftermarket 360 camera for these?

Got around to new rotors and pads for the front.
Also Lysol-ed the heck out of the AC system and changed the cabin filter. Found with it getting warmer and the AC on the car started smelling like mulch. Weirdly we removed the ventilation housing and found that the bottom of the housing was missing and there was a cut line in the side. Just sitting open above the battery. What would be the reasoning behind this?
Then finally gave it a much needed bath! Found a bunch of other cracks and such in the body kit during the process.
Decided to get real low after changing out the pads and rotors.
Luckily it raised back up!

Do you ever pick up your son from school and get the kids staring? I sometimes pick up my teenage daughter and all the boys are staring! She get embarrassed for some reason when I rev a couple of times lol.

Nah, he's a bus rider so there is rarely a need to drive him to school. I've had quite a few positive interactions, people commenting on it at the pump, or a couple guys who've pulled up beside me at a light to comment on the kit.

Hey all, it's been a little while!
Took me quite some time this summer to find a shop to fix this crack and a few others that are popping up. Learned the body kit is fiberglass and that seems to be a no no when it comes to cars. Must have gone to and called a couple dozen places before finding the Royal Coach in Bartlett. (If you know the area) They let me know that the previous owner sure ingested a large chunk of $$ in getting this kit on. I dropped it off this morning to see what they can do with it. My thoughts on this are to get the cracks repaired and then wrap on top. Thinking the wrap will help hold things together. Other thoughts are appreciated, thanks!
Anyway a little farewell video of it. Ignore my old man grunts and chucking to myself like an idiot. 😂

I imagine they will remove the lower valence and v-notch it front and back then glass, grind, and sand that area before reshooting. Repair should be invisible. That is one sinister Benz

I saw this thing 8 months ago and I said nothing. I saw it again today, and I could not stay quiet. This is so hideous. You cannot even remove either bumper since they are bondo glued to the body.
I'm sure whomever did this. spent a lot of money but OMG.
edit: I guess you can remove the front bumper still but I wish I could unsee what I have seen here

Looking for a burnt metallic orange. Something similar to my old Grand Prix.
Haha, sometimes you just have to speak your mind! I get that it's not for everyone and that's cool. It'll be interesting to to see what they come up with trying to wrap this thing. That darn panel goes from drivers side front fender, wraps around the butt end of the car and all the way back to the passenger side front fender. That's just nuts!
I'm pretty sure there was a Need for Speed with this puppy in it. This or at least the BMW 6 series.
Well said! I agree fully! I was originally looking for a 63 amg when I caught sight of this beast. Wheels will go next year after I recover from wrapping it. Looking for a 5-7 spoke black rim setup.

I for one do not mind reading contrary feelings. It's perfectly fine to not like it: I get it.....it's an intense design and is polarizing either way. I respect when folks can express their distaste and still do it in a calm collective way. I also understand being so overwhelmed that words must be said lol. I didn't like it at first, but then started looking at it closer, and while it would be 'cooler' on an AMG I still like the overt, aggressive nature the lines and curves project. My only beef is the wheels.....it could use better looking wheels. The thing better be DAMN fast though

I don't think those rims look bad. Is it possible to use a taller sidewall tire to better fill the wheel wells? Lowering only would put the ground effects at risk.

Hey all, so couldn't even make it a full winter before dinging a nice pot hole here in Illinois.
So where do you all go for wheels and rims? I usually like Discount tire. Though I'm not super stoked about their selection for this car.
Looking for something simple like:
https://www.carid.com/inovit-wheels/...872824243.html
Or:
https://audiocityusa.com/shop/20-Sta...cave-Rims.html
Also what sizes do you all recommend? I can only seem to find the ones I like in 20". Though Discount recommend 18 or 19s.
Thanks all!

A lot of folks may scoff.....but my first choice for many years is HRE. I've had 7 sets and currently 2 different sets for my car I rotate between. I have also been going to DT for ages and love the service there. The have always ordered them for me too. The great thing about HRE is they custom make the wheels to fit your car: offset, width, size and color too. 3 piece, monoblock, forged, flowform....there are many choices. Check out the website.

Because you have a wide body you need to figure out your offsets and widths because they won't be like the standard car. Also you should be searching by dimensions/bolt pattern to find wheel options; searching by car usually greatly limits options.
I have Stance wheels which you can order with custom offsets through a vendor here (and you get forum discount I believe)
Also have niche wheels on my w204 which I really liked.
You could probably go up to 20's and then a higher profile tire but this will all depend on what wheels you buy.
