220d vs 250d
I'm quite new with my 2016 CLS220d (lovely red).
It has a sport pack, with huge 255 and 285 tyres. Performance is fine, But a little more would be better above 120kph.
I chose this engine on purpose, since it's superduper at consumption (about 4.9l at 130kph), and have been put into reliable work-cars, so I'm expecting a reliable long life from it, without major and expensive issues. The 350 eats much more, and this huge performance is not needed (I have muscular a 5pot hatchback for fun) But I just checked, that there is a 250d variant with the exact same engine. But I cannot find any information regarding the supporting parts. Is the whole HW the same and the difference is only SW? Or the 250d has 2 turbos? Or what are the diffs? The wiki, and all the information sheetes are mixing the 3 sub-variants of this engine. All I know, that the weakest variant has 1 turbo.
if only SW...then I'm considering to hack it to a 250. 204 HP sounds the perfect sweetspot for swift 20-180kph accelerations. On 245/245 tyres the 220d power is enough. But the summer stock set grips so magical...wouldnt want to switch them.
Bonus question. Does anyone know why this car is this heavy? It has a ton of aluminum elements and a lower(smaller) body compared to the class E, but the same heavy....WHY?
Supposed to be 50-70kg less.Last edited by kleroo; May 5, 2022 at 10:57 AM.
