Emergency Parking Brake Broke
I parked my car on a slight incline and wanted to use the emergency brake to stay in place, when i pressed the pedal down i heard a click and my release lever popped out about an inch. Now the lever won’t go back in and the car won’t hold the E-Brake.
Not that big of a deal to me If it’s not holding the brake because i barely use it. Just confused as to what broke.

2014 CLS550 RWD
Just had this issue fixed on my 2014 CLS550 yesterday.
The internal mechanism will seize and jam without regular exercise.
As Mercedes only sells the complete entire mechanism, the "correct" answer here is to replace the entire thing. Which is what I choose to have the mechanic do.
I have a part number that fit my car, but you should check with a dealer given your VIN to determine what will fit yours. MB Part Number: 204-420-15-84
The advice I got to avoid this issue recurring was to exercise the parking brake regularly, or never use it.
