UK Price Comparison
With the CLS about to launch in the UK, thought it might be intersting to compare the UK and US pricing. It wasn't just interesting - it is damn scary 
The UK base prices are as follows:
CLS 350 - £43,115
CLS 500 - £52,115
CLS 55 - £70,565
When they're loaded with the usual extras (COMAND, Keyless Go, Airmatic, Parktronic, Active Lights etc) the prices are:
CLS 350 - £53,930
CLS 500 - £60,040
CLS 55 - £76,780
Convert that to USD and you get:
CLS 350 - $103,545 (realise there's no US 350)
CLS 500 - $115,276
CLS 55 - $147,417
I'd be cheaper flying over to the US and flying back with a CLS in the hold!
Still, even though we're getting screwed, it will still be worth it!!

Just ordered my CLS 350 today £57,750 , AMG body styling,wheels etc & Air suspension ! I too thought about going to the states & taking back a Proper AMG CLS ,but the left hand drive would **** me off big time over here but when im on vacation in the states ,thre road system is to simple to drive on !

- bet you can't wait! You must be loading your 350 with just about every extra in the book to get it to £57k - will be well worth it though.You mentioned in another post that your dealer is getting an allocation of 6 per year. MB Glasgow are getting 30 in the first production run - might be worth contacting them to see if you could get it earlier than October. I also think that the lead times will get significantly longer after the official launch in April

Ive already tried that & was advised that it the same story as the BMW dealers that they advise you to deal with local dealers its something to do with postcodes ! I actually got aprice for my CLK from Western in Edinburgh & it was £3K Less ,so its swings & roundabouts im afraid ! I will just keep anoying the local dealer.

Yeah, best bet is to keep hassling them - especially as some may back out of their orders and let you jump the queue. That's what happened with me - saving me a few weeks of horrible waiting

So what was wrong with the Beemer 330! , I was looking at a 535Td with twin turbo ,boy could that motor shift ,but specked up was about £49K
you just fancy a change of scenery.

Not a thing wrong with the 330 - I still love that car. But the current one is my fifth so probably a change of scenery is what it's all about. Not to mention the second child arriving so I was starting to look at 4 door anyway - and the CLS was sent by the gods!!!
I'm hoping to find a good home for my 330 rather than trading it in - and getting shafted on that deal as well

Know how you feel Beemer offered me £29k against a new 535td twin turbo & Merc are offering me £25500 ! Considering that i paid £42565 in March 03 its taking a hiding as well , but I reckon the CLS has the edge on the Beemer !
